Nervous
Newly diagnosed with invasive breast cancer mid December. Surgery delayed once already but now is tomorrow with a lymphoscintography shortly.
Feeling very nervous and quite emotional today - haven’t really cried since diagnosed but today I can’t seem to stop. Is this how others have felt?

- Great that you are going well @MrsMorrisey and getting out of the house now xx. If you are hesitant to remove the dressings yourself .... maybe contact your Breast Care Nurse to drop in & do it for you - or even check in with your GP (who would probably want to see how you are going anyway - and may address any other queries you may have xx)

First time I’ve left the house in a week.Not much pain and arm is getting much more mobile.Doing light housework etc then need a little rest.My dressings are getting itchy.My surgeon said I can take them off at the 5 day mark but I’m hesitant.They are the waterproof ones.How are yours going, are you taking them off yourself?My follow-up appt isn’t until 5th Feb so don’t want to wait that long.

Remember to TAKE IT EASY because if you over do it when your home you may regret it, like I did, I started doing house work when I came home and started a bleed from where a drain had been, that really set back my healing.
So allow others to help you even if you're not used to that.
We all feel up and down at different times and it's all normal, so don't worry about that.
Remember to do the little exercises they assign to you, it'll help in your healing.

Take it easy in your recovery follow the instructions no matter how tempting it my be to over stretch yourselves - Thank you @arpie

@Booklover let’s believe and pray for no lymph node action.Just rads and blockers xxxx - So glad you are both going well after your surgery @Booklover and @MrsMorrisey ...... just rest up for a few days as you may 'nod off' now & then, as the anaesthetic wears off .... and make sure you keep up any painkiller meds for the first 2-3 days too - 4 hourly or as prescribed ... so the pain shouldn't break thru xx

Thank you also for your insight.Going into this I thought that it would be surgery and then a follow up treatment and the life would be back to normal.I’m now realising that I may have been a little in denial and also trying to show those around me that I’m fine so not worry them.After hearing from others in the group I’m realising that it is ok to have lots of different feelings and that no feeling is right or wrong. I need to take each days as it comes whether it be good or bad and that this will be an ongoing process.

I am of a similar age to yourself at 51 and also yet to reach menopause. I also have 3 children all living at home in their late teens/early twenties. - @Booklover that’s great. Apparently my surgeon came and spoke to me too.I can’t remember a thing and was probably really embarrassing. I had a blocked nose and the nurses said I’d been crying.Drugs hey?
