Hi i have just been diagnosed with tubular carcinoma in my right breast I found a lump which I thought was from doing weights at gym saw breast specialist who confirmed a grade 1 tumour and surgery was planned for the 8th dec..she sent me for a mammogram as I've had 2 ultrasounds as I have very large dense breasts only to get a call to come back in for another ultrasound they have found 2 more spots in breast that look odd had another 2 biopsy done today waiting on results am freaked out as they missed it on first initial ultrasound and my prognosis was low grade hormone receptive tumour now I just don't know

Hi Pammy, Sorry that you've joined our forum but Welcome. I'm sure that you have already realised that the waiting is the absolute worst. It's twice as bad for you as you have already been through waiting for biopsy results already. Once you have the full picture and a plan in place re surgery things will start to settle down a bit and give you something positive to focus on. Until then it is incredibly nerve wracking. Try and be gentle on yourself as it is such an emotional strain. If you feel the need to have a good cry or scream due to fear or frustration go ahead, we all understand. Because of my dense breasts I had a breast MRI to check all the breast and the other. My lump wasn't visible on mammogram 5 weeks prior feeling it. The waiting is the worst. The final tumor grade etc will be done after removal where they recheck it all. Hope all goes well and you have answers soon. Ask about anything you are worried about and hopefully we can help.

Thank you the waiting is the hardest being told you have cancer is hard enough to take thinking you have the one low grade tumour after biopsy then to be told something else looks suspicious lady at the radiology place said it could be another cancer in there or a satellite of the original which changes the dynamics of treatment I feel most days like it's not even real it's not me

Welcome to the site yes the waiting is hard. Sometimes things change along the way as they do more tests. Start writing a list of questions for when you go back as when you get in it all becomes so emotional and so much information. Visit often lots of ladies at different stages

im still not sure as still waiting for the 2 biopsy's I had done last weds but initial report after diagnosis was a lumpectomy and 2 lymph nodes then radiation and tablets as its oestrogen and progesterone positive

Will your surgery be a lumpectomy or a single mastectomy or double? I opted for the single mastectomy as my breast like yours was starting to have what they thought was a fatty lump starting on the other side of the nipple. They all thought the sentinel node was fine and didn't even do a biopsy on it and then the testing after he took out the node it returned a positive for cancer result in pathology so it was back again for a full axillary clearance of all my underarm nodes but fortunately the pathology results showed them to be clear so at least we'd gotten to the bottom of it all. I just wish they had told me there was the possibility of having to have a second surgery after the first. I wasn't prepared for it at all and got every upset about it all at the time.

Hi Pammy, So sorry to hear you are here. If I can say anything from my experience about this diagnostic work up period it is just don't ask Dr Google anything! He'll just make you feel worse and won't help! Also be kind to yourself, doing nice things, eat week, rest, do things you like to take your mind elsewhere. The diagnostic work up was one of the hardest bits emotionally for me, not knowing and waiting drove me to the edge (and I googled waaaaay too much!!). But, as others have said, it does get easier once you know what you're working with. Regarding the other spots, it's best they find and investigate suspicious spots and get them out all in one go if they're cancer. This happened to me too, I found a lump and they found other spots of dcis. This helped me develop a good treatment plan with my surgeon. I can say that now, only ten weeks post op. Take care, Jen

not sure on surgery wait still have 3 weeks but kinda glad so I can get my head around everything and arrange work etc pending my new biopsy results if everything goes to plan my specialist said surgery will be 1 night stay in hospital..she is taking 2 lymph nodes so have to have the sentinel node wire put in first
my original 2 ultrasounds found the tumour but since I had the first biopsy they've found 2 more odd spots so I was concerned could this be from biopsy or did they miss on first 2 ? I'm confused and the wait is so hard

Welcome! and sorry you are here, but you are in great company :) Definitely keep talking any little thing and we'll certainly help in any way we can to alleviate or explain something youre not sure of. This is the hard/worst part....until you actually have a lumpectomy of the areas of concern, there wont be a firm pathology of exactly everything. Why is your surgery such a wait? generally they pop you in asap to get things on the road to understanding and planning. Big breath, hard as it is, try not to spin out into the unknowns, day at a time, is super key all the way through all of it....Hugs...step at a time! Hugs Melinda xo

It's a hard time but glad you have also found the site to help you talk with others in similar situations. The waiting is the worst. My surgery after a head spinning two weeks with tests and diagnosis etc now us me at a waiting point again. It drives you insane. Talk it out with us. It certainly helps.

Glad you found us. your mind goes into overdrive, and the word cancer sends you to places you never thought you would think. things will be better when youve had all the tests and you can then have some sort of idea of whats going to happen. You will be amazed how much you learn, families and friends dont know what to say, make sure you have someone with you as honestly sometimes your headspace is not really there. its 4 years for me and l never would believe ld get there but you do

Many of us continue to feel pretty normal, one of the hard parts is to mentally connect a serious illness and some pretty unpleasant treatment with not always feeling ill. Understanding as much as possible about our own condition (BC is very variable) and our treatment (ditto) has helped many of us to keep some sort of balance. Will be thinking of you today.

Thank you ladies hopefully I find out today so I can prepare myself for what lies ahead it's so hard to comprehend as I feel completely normal and my only sign was a lump I found in the shower

Sorry to hear yet another sister has the dreaded breast cancer. Be kind to yourself and be prepared to put your life on hold for a year and then enjoy discovering the new normal for you.
