What helps you when you are down or stressed
Hey Ladies,
Just thought I would put it out there.........you know me. There seems to be quite a few posts lately stating how people are depressed, sad, lonely, upset, stressed and all the other feelings and emotions we have to deal with in our lives either from just general life or because of the dreaded breast cancer.
I thought I would start by saying I have been going through an ongoing tough time now for a couple of years, with one thing or another and it was while I was doing my six weeks of hyperbaric chamber every day that I had time to think. I decided I needed to do something to try and turn my life around.
I have started what some people call a "visualisation board" but mine isn't so much 'what I want from life' - mine is more of 'what should I be grateful, happy, feeling lucky and all those things that we need to feel to get through every day To feel good and happy.
I have photos of all my loved ones starting with my husband, my BCNA beastie, my daughter and precious grandaughter and other special people in my life. I have things that make me smile, I have words of encouragement of which one is very special as it is a pink sister picture with "Michele Be Strong" which I definitely needed every single day I did the hyperbaric. I have to thank Donna from Dubbo for this one.
Some of the quotes are things like:
- "Every day in every way I am getting better and better" "
- "I have decided to be happy because it is good for my health"
- "Be someone you want to be around"
I really find this helps me get through my days every day. I also have one very special verse that Janey235 wrote for me that I cherish and I make sure I read it every day.
I have started Yoga once a week and I try to Meditate most days but the hardest part with that is not falling asleep.....hahahahaha
I hope this helps and hopefully I have opened the path for other Ladies to come forward with what they do to help themselves get through their bad, sad and stressful days. In return we can maybe help some of our other pink sisters that are doing it tough.
Lots of love today, tomorrow and always,
Mich

Try just laying and shutting out everything else and take the time for you. Some deep breaths first and then breathe normally and just concentrate on your breath. If your mind wanders it doesn't matter just come back to your breathing. Close your eyes and find the third eye (that is hard). I do a chant of SAT NAM (sart narm) SAT when you breathe in and NAM when you breathe out.
I have a long way to go in learning the calm my mind down etc. but it is a start and another point towards turning my life around.
Good luck hun and 4th Feb will be here before you know it. I am waiting to start an Encore program and that is February as well.
Lots of luv, Mich xoxoxoxoxo
- The yoga I'm going to do is Hatha yoga.. Haven't done it for years.. So I'm excited to start doing this again for myself... I really need to learn to just breath & calm my mind down..just found out the classes don't start until 4th February... Take care Christine :) x

I've just starting a group called 'Melbournites' and our first meeting for lunch is next Monday in the City. I live an hour and a half north of the city but I thought that this group could be for ladies for can't easily get to other groups and can get to the City by public transport. Here's the link to the group and a link to my blog putting the interest out there.

I am in a group called Bayside and Eastern Suburbs group, we meet every couple of months for coffee, lunch and a laugh.
We meet up at different locations ranging from Frankston, Southland, Rowville, Narre Warren, so we may be what you are looking for.
We are certainly there to help and have such a good time when we are together and sometimes we mop up each others tears if needed.
Cheers
Donna

Hey Elizabeth
Thanks heaps for your coping skills and your kind words. How lucky are you to have a massage chair!!! and some beautiful furry children to keep you active as well.
I luv the idea of writing down 3 positive positive thoughts a day. Do you keep those thoughts stored somewhere and look back later?
I have started the one where you write down what special luvly things happened in your day and you date it and keep it in a jar and then you look back through them down the track and reminisce :-)
Keep up your positives and keep smiling
Lots of luv, Mich xoxoxoxoxoxo

It's just an idea, but have you thought of joining a support group in your area?I started one in the Hills area of Sydney at the beginning of 2013. The women who attend are lovely and we all support each other. From my experience(breast cancer twice)it took me about 2 years to feel confident in my health again. We have to somehow find a way to live with that cancer worry but not let it dominate our everyday life. You are still in the middle of treatments so ofcourse you are going to feel worried and vulnerable. It's good you are seeking help from a psychologist and your GP.I hope it works out for you.Blog back here any time for support or to vent your feelings as I think it helps.
