Large breast Bras - no choices

Hi! I have been searching through past posts before I did a new one as know this question will have been posted many times but couldnt quite find something recent. I am getting rather upset at the moment as I am looking for post-op bras and just cant find ANY my size. I am 34HH ( 12HH ) and nothing and I mean nothing goes over an E. Also it's often only XL or L versus any signal for upsize. I am going to continue my research but been on many larger bust websites as I know them well and cant find a thing - not even Berlei which I know can offer you one for free in your care kit. Getting very stressed about it as I am very self conscious of the size of my breast right now and post Op ( having a lumpectomy on left breast) - how I will walk around and what they will look like if I cant find anything supportive enough...really hard. Any tips or advice would be appreciated as I have a relatively small backside in comparison to cup size.

  • Thanks so much everyone - am now post op and in the end, I managed to find a Bralette from Elomi that has been brilliant. I wanted to share the brand and info for others in case this chat comes up on future searches. The Bralette by a Elomi  goes up to J cup and I found a good 14H/HH which has been brilliant.Only downside is the back hooks only and not at the front but has been a godsend so wanted to share - they have grey and black ones and the shape is pretty good. Thank you ELOMI!! Can be purchased online at Debras ( if Sydney based as got it in 24 hours - lovely private business in parramatta ) or the other main one that everyone seems to know anyway.

P.s agree on the Berlei - appalling quality and zero support. Its such a wonderful thing that they are in partnership with this organisation and offer these bras for free to the community but the actual quality is really bad considering the reason its designed for.

I am very pleased  you have found something that works for you. It sure is hit and miss isn't it?

  • Thanks so much everyone for your recommendations. The difference in breast size is going to be hard to navigate but thank you yes prosthetic will be a good thing to consider too.

  • Will you need special bra's after a lumpectomy? I'd think if there is a gap you could just use a prosthesis inside you usual bra's? My breast cancer nurse had several prosthesis she showed me that were for women who'd had lumpectomy's

kittykatster - We acknowledge that navigating bra options after breast surgery can be especially difficult while also dealing with the challenges of breast cancer.

If the Berlei My Care Kit range isn’t suitable for you, we warmly encourage you to visit the BCNA website page Find services and support in your area to locate a specialty bra fitting store. These services offer compassionate support and fittings tailored to your individual needs, helping you feel more comfortable and confident during your recovery.

kittykatster  Yes Tracy G ,and not just check tracys website, give them a call , they are experts who have dealt with issues like this and may be able to help you find some solutions. They do recommend calling.

I know one friend with very large breast who had a single masectomy found the using two of the water bead (filled with tiny poly beads )  largest  prosthesis helped fill the one cup and apparently they kinda squished together, as yep very large cupped bras hard to find , but there are specialty stores for large breast /small band type situations. And so are the big prosthesis and the silicone ones get super heavy at that size. But that was masectomy. Yep big busted masectomy bras would be near impossible , but normal bras are fine too.

Since your only having a lumpectomy, depending on the location of the exision , you may just be able to wear a normal good supportive bra and a symmetry shaper prosthesis  to 'fill the hole' and/or  cover it , smooth it out,  if it on the side or at the bottom of your breast . That doesn't need a prosthesis  pocketed bra .

If the lump removed  is at the top or top middle of the breast  , then that is a bit harder to 'fill ' and hold the partial prostheisis  , but i am sure its not impossible.

You can even sew a pocket in a bra . NB the fabric pocket does bulge out the bra cup  becuase even the best full cup bras never contain the full breast , real or plastic,  but it at least covers the plastic prosthisis is you lean over.

Higher necklines help too. No more deep v necks if loose the clevage side of breast.

Scarves and loose clothes  for recovery .
