On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

- Annie_CMemberHello All
Some of you may know that the little Kimberley town of Derby experiences some of the highest tides in the southern hemisphere (even higher than our beachside suburb of Broome)! Our tidal range is 12 metres at high tide and 1 metre at low.
Today we experienced our lowest tides for some months.
Officially the low tide was -0.00m at 10.49am. This afternoon at 4.49 pm the high tide will be 11.5m.
Normally there is some water under the jetty at low tide. Today there was only mud. Just think in 6 hours time there will be 11 metres of water where there is just mud at the moment. Takes some imagining.
Sad to say I still did not see the croc that is rumoured to be lurking around the jetty! - kmakmMember@Sister Ankles are screaming. I've doused them with magnesium spray. Stings a lot but it's helping.
- SisterMemberLovely. (I struggled with 5kms today)

- RomlaMemberWe went to Paronella Park today 140km south of Cairns.A century ago a Spanish migrant called Jose Paronella built a castle in a 5 Ha rainforest .It housed a cinema , ballroom , tennis courts , a cafe etc but has been damaged by fire and cyclones .Today it’s like Sleeping Beauty’s castle and eerily beautiful. The photos in no way do it justice . Quite a testimony to one’s man life work.Well worth a visit.
