A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow stagger...
Some of you may know that the little Kimberley town of Derby experiences some of the highest tides in the southern hemisphere (even higher than our beachside suburb of Broome)! Our tidal range is 12 metres at high tide and 1 metre at low.
Today we experienced our lowest tides for some months.
Officially the low tide was -0.00m at 10.49am. This afternoon at 4.49 pm the high tide will be 11.5m.
Normally there is some water under the jetty at low tide. Today there was only mud. Just think in 6 hours time there will be 11 metres of water where there is just mud at the moment. Takes some imagining.
Sad to say I still did not see the croc that is rumoured to be lurking around the jetty!
