Yay, yay, yay, last Chemo over!
Such a good feeling to have had that last Chemo. If only I could just continue feeling this good, but once I finish up the DEX tomorrow the downhill run will start. At least I know it is the last time and as I start to recover I think this will help me to feel better.
Next step is 25 sessions of radiotherapy starting in early October. The worst is almost behind me now. BUT just before this I have 2 nights away with my husband to celebrate the end of Chemo. Really looking forward to this!

Yay, that's fabulous news. Well done. Enjoy that precious time away with your husband.
I also finished chemo this week and am waiting for the side effects to ease off so that I can fully appreciate the significance :) Hope you're doing ok with your side effects.....last time! Yay!

Hi Deanne,
Throw your hands in the air and do the happy dance, I am so happy for you.
I remember how excited I was when my chemo finished, no more of that yucky stuff. Radiation is a breeze after chemo and really just like chemo we all react differently to it.
I am now 5 months post chemo and am starting to feel like my old self, life does go on and it wonderful after the treatments are finished.
Take care

It is a wonderful feeling when you finish chemo for the last time - and a huge milestone for you to have passed. I am sorry you had a bit of a rough trot with Docetaxel, but you kicked it to the kerb and now it's all in the past - no more! - congratulations!
Have a wonderful break with your husband in your treehouse cabin overlooking a lake - it sounds blissful. Wishing you all the very best - Michelle xxx
- CarolynvjMemberHi Deanne, Thank you for taking the time to give me a few tips. I am really not looking forward to the next part of this chemo regime but know I will get there. Thank you Carolyn x
- DeanneMemberYes I have heard lots about Radiation being easy after Chemo. It will take a lot of pressure off the whole family and my terrific, supportive friends to be finished Chemo. Landed home to a lovely lot of flowers from work friends after Chemo today. It means so much that they were keeping up with where I am at. Keeps you going with a smile. :) Deanne xx
- DeanneMemberYes, I think my husband needs a break away as much as me. It is a big relief to both of us to be almost over the hardest part of the treatment. My husband has been absolutely fantastic throughout everything so far, making it a priority to come to every chemo and most medical appointments with me. We are having a special break staying in a treehouse cabin overlooking a Lake. It is a very private and a quiet retreat, just what we need! Hope the funeral for your friend went okay. Take care. - DeanneMemberHi Carolyn Many people find Docetaxel not too bad after AC or FEC but I have found the pain and fatigue a bit overwhelming from day 3 to 7. I have found the DEX medication has effected me a little more with lack of sleep each time (hence I am awake in the middle of the night again!), so maybe that is why the fatigue hits me quite hard on day 3. Chemo staff have told me just the impact of each dose of drugs does wear your body down so it does sometimes get a bit worse when you change drugs. Your body kind of wonders 'what next'! I found I have not bounced back until about 4 days before next dose with Docetaxel, whereas I had a good 2 weeks with each round of FEC. I have used Endone for the worst of the pain (watch for constipation with this) and then Nurofen once the pain is reduced. Have had a bit of fluid retention and lost most of my eyelashes and eyebrows. Also suffered from oral thrush. Unfortunately ended up in hospital after first dose with neutropenia, so have had to give myself the Neulasta injections for the last 2 cycles. So, consequently very glad to have last dose complete and looking forward to recovering from it and not having to have anymore! Hope you are one of the lucky ones who breezes through this drug, like many do. If not just take what medications your doctor recommends to get you through and just think how effective this drug is against any stray cancer cells that maybe lurking around! Wishing you all the best for a smoother run. Deanne xx
