Trembling legs

hi I am having FEC chemotherapy.  Does anyone else have shaking or trembling legs with this chemo?  I find it distressing.

  • Mine is TAC without the A bit. Your skin will get very dry eventually especially on your feet. I moisturise the heck out of mine and still there is a layer of sole working its way off. I try to preserve what I have as long as I can but eventually the chemo wins. Then its look after the new skin which is sensitive like a babies for a little while.

For internal trembling which is I think my body kind of in shock at the medicines I found if I take Targin pain killer it settles me down. It also helps my flip flopping heart to maintain a decent rhythm for those days about 5 to 7 which seems to be when its the worst.

  • thanks Brenda.   Yes walking does seem to help a bit, they feel a bit better for a while after a walk.  Apart from walking how do you look after your legs through FEC?  Good luck with your treatment.

  • Thanks Tracey, for your message.  My trembles are still going 10 days later after my third FEC.  Good idea, I will raise with the chemo nurses and my oncologist.  Good luck with your treatment.

  • There are a lot of big muscles in your legs and long bones where new white blood cells get made. Add to that the major arteries and circulation and you really need to look after your legs.

Mine felt like tree trunks when I started my walk this morning. I really didn't want to do it but plodded on and by the time I got home my legs were feeling great! Just the rest of me was worn out so back to bed for a few hours sleep.

  • Hi Karen, FEC is just awful! After each dose I could barely walk to the car. Docs told me it was "anxiety" and tried Lorazepam but made no difference, lasted a week after each round. They were my rest up days, I tried not to go anywhere & if I really had to go out I made sure someone was with me. Take it easy, try to drink enough fluids and eat well if you can. Your body is doing battle & needs the energy to fight. You will win the battle, it just takes time ??

  • Hi Karen,

I have just had my second round of FEC and like the first I got the shakes...They only lasted a few days though.... I also find I get shaky if I try to do too much around the house....I mentioned this to my Onc, but she didn't seem to concerned. My shakes are all over and my legs feel like they are wobbly when I walk.....Are yours like this? If you are concerned, definitely call your team or BCN just to put your mind at rest...

Remember to write down side effects and mention them to your Onc team or chemo nurse....

Wishing you all the best with your treatment..
