Afternoon Troopers!

From today's' Facebook blog

Afternoon All!

Had appointment with surgeon this afternoon regarding pathology results of last surgery on 5/2...He took out 16mm more tissue and lucky he did as 4mm of it still had cancer cells in it! So now that means my margins are CLEAR! *insert big sigh of relief from me and hubby here*. So no more surgery for now! I only just realised it's only been 10 days since my last surgery..It seems like months ago! .I seriously need to learn not to expect so much from myself...

So, what next?? Well that means I can move onto the next phase of treatment....CHEMO! I am very anxious about this stage, and that's normal I expect, but I also know it's absolutely essential to make sure this bitch hasn't sent any of her henchmen to other parts of my body!

Sooo, My first round of chemo is TOMORROW (Tuesday 16/2)!!! at 9am....I will have one dose every 3 weeks for 6 rounds. (FEC-D) so that's three of a drug called FEC (fluorouracil, epirubicin and cyclophosphamide) and then 3 of one called D (Docetaxel).

I am hoping to get through this next phase without too many side effects. But like hubby said I'm already winning!
TUMOUR GONE + NODES GONE + CLEAR SCANS + CLEAR MARGINS!!

So tomorrow is a big day and I'll be going in with daggers drawn, remember this ...

my dark shadowed friend,
You will NOT beat me,
I WILL fight you,
So prepare for battle,
For to the depths of Hell, It is YOU...I WILL send...

  • Best wishes to you too Helen, hope it all goes as smoothly as possible for you. Jane xx

  • Hi Tracy.  I am also starting chemo tomorrow.  4 x 3 weekly AC and 12 x weekly Paxi(something) and Herceptin.  Love your positive attitude.  I am hoping to stay calm.  All the best.

  • Tracy, if they could bottle your attitude we'd have one powerful drug to combat this disease! Wishing you all the best for tomorrow xx

  • Hi Tracy,

I'm with Deanne on this one. Lots of positive thoughts for tomorrow and remember we are here for you.

    xx

  • Wow! Any stray cancer cells should be shaking in their boots right now, Tracy. Your hubby is spot on with his thinking too. Just wanted to wish you lots and lots of positive thoughts for tomorrow. If you do have any trouble side effect wise just jump on here and I am sure that you will find lots of helpful hints about minimizing any discomfort.

I had FEC/D and found the main things that helped were drinking lots of water to flush it through (most of the drugs do their thing and are out of the body in the first 48 hours). If you can manage some gentle exercise (I just walked) I think that helps heaps too.

Hope it goes as well as possible. Look after yourself. Deanne xxx
