Hi there - Ive just started the 15 days of therapy and started with StrataX yesterday. As have large breasts I am unsure if am putting on too much or not enough and also got some moo goo as well. Any other good ( and cheaper ) creams I could get as the StrataX is so expensive. Large Boob tax was a joke I heard and soooo true! I also wondered what peoples experiences were with hardening of the breast and skin around the scar and breast and under the armpit? I feel its hardening already and is aching a bit - wasnt sure if this was just me overthinking and a placebo effect or could start that early
StrataX is specially good to apply during treatment. It's so expensive due to all the research. The hospital had a code I used for a discount when ordering. You "feather" on a very light film and it protects from burning. Continuing using it for some weeks after radiation makes a difference too. Other creams are moisturisers. I keep what's left in the frig and used a dab for kitchen finger/hand burns and they disappeared.

Hikittykatster I don’t think you’re overthinking it; I had a very sensitive breast after surgery (a lumpectomy) and 15 doses of radiation. Even 12 m later, having an ultrasound check was uncomfortable and made me wince. Not sure if my pain and internal scarring was due to the surgery or the radiation. My GP referred me to a physio some months later for laser treatment and combining that with her recommended stretches has led to significant improvements.
Hi, I was fortunate to only need 5 days of radiation on half my R breast and under arm back in September. I have sensitive skin and didn't want to be plagued with itching, burning and discomfort so gladly invested in the StrataX. I was told I only needed a small pea size for that area and shown how to feather it on with my finger tips. It should just feel a bit sticky, not moist. You don't spread it generously and rub it in like Moo Goo. I expected to get some symptoms, but I had none at all in the 6 weeks following treatment while continuing with StrataX. So it was well worth it for me. After the 6 weeks I stopped using StrataX and still had some left! I have since been applying Moo GOO liberally on the scar area around my nipple and under my arm massaging it in very well twice a day. That is working well. There's still some hardening but it's reducing.
I used sorbolene, I was given a tub by the hospital, and I also used redwin sorbolene and have continued using it daily.
After each treatment I slathered it on and used it as much as I felt I needed to. I used it each morning, and then reapplied after each treatment and before bed.
After 15 rounds I had a slight blush and like very mild sunburn, and a few little itchy spots, and some light peeling after a few weeks, all of which disappeared after a few weeks or so. My skin was pretty much back to normal 6-8 weeks after.
I'm 18 months post treatment and I have no tissue hardening from the radiation treatment.
