Radiotherapy
I session 22 of 25 and skin has completely broken down and peeled off under breast , areas of chest as well as blistered and bleeding and dark red to mahogany colour from under arm all way down side then right across chest and under breast. It’s excruciating- making nauseous. Had anyone’s nurses offered dressings etc this stage - I’ve just been told to use moisturiser and keep breast from rubbing- disappointing at this stage - has as no other nurse available- don’t want to fuss but omg I’m in pain and already on opioids. Any suggestions? 3 to go..

- ChezaHMemberAfter today's treatment I have 3 to go Yahoo !! Then meet up with my oncologist to see which tablets I will be on for he next 5 years. 😢 I cannot imagine having lots of side effects for 5 years, I am still having them since chemo with no end in sight. I am going to discuss what is the options of taking or not taking??
- JwrennMemberHi @JMC26, I counted while I was holding my breath, usually got to 20 or so. I made it a bit of a game with myself. The only time I had trouble was the last time on a different machine which didn’t have the same tablet to watch. We all have some rough times in this journey. Your on the home stretch now, good luck with the last few. Xx
- gossy29MemberHi JMC26,
I am having radiotherapy every morning at the moment as well, this morning I did session number 6 of 25. I also hate having to hold my breath and making sure that little white line stays within the borders!! They keep telling me I dont have to do it in one hit though.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment
cheers
Danny - JMC26MemberThank you. Yes indeed those cancer cells are getting a good hiding. Love the image.
- FLCloverMemberYou’re almost there @JMC26, only 4 more to go then that step is over. We’ve all cried about something, sometimes more things, it’s perfectly normal. Hang in there darl, and remember any stray cancer cells are getting their ass whooped, and your body appreciates what you’re doing for it 👊🏻😊
- JMC26MemberHi Abbydog
Thanks for asking. Yes the medication helped. I still struggled to hold the breath at the blue line but got there eventually without the tears.
Another session today. Still anxious but will take my little white pill again.😊🌈 - AbbydogMemberDear JMC26,
Sorry I didn't address the above to you.
How did you go today?
Did the medication help?
Not long and it will be over. - AbbydogMemberHow did you go today?

Not long and it will be over. - JMC26MemberHi, I am new to this forum and so struggling with radiation therapy. I have 5 more sessions to go. As the cancer was on the left side, I have found the long hold breathing to be so difficult in spite of how fit I am. I feel really teary and can only sleep til about 4.30am. Has anyone else experienced the anxiety of not been able to sustain the breath? I end up crying so much that my doctor has now prescribed Ativan Lorazepam to relax me before each session. I take the first one today but am a bit worried I will be so woozy I wont be able to hold the breath again ... hah but at least I wont get all worked up about it.
I think the the journey of Radiation Therapy has been underplayed in all the literature...I certainly wasnt prepared for the emotional turbulence and the pain even though I had read up on the side effects.
Thanks for listening and caring. - Louise64Member*year 7 ...
