Thank you for all of your advices. I did not have any luck with phoning nurses as none had any idea of the pain I was experiencing and really had no suggestions. As things stand now, I have been through the mill but at last have a reason for so much pain. About 3, maybe more, spontaneous rib fractures caused by the radiation. A very rare occurrence. When I was in so much pain Sept/Oct/Nov would have been when they were just new fractures. And, of course, not knowing what was wrong, the hydro caused extreme discomfort as did most daily living activities. I'm on the mend now but lying down is still painful, though not as bad as before. PET scan in August last year was clear and repeat one just 2 weeks ago showed 'healing rib fractures'. A follow-up chest xray done yesterday shows 3 fractures and we are still waiting for the radiographer to write their report to see if there are more.
So, if you have increased pain in the chest wall several months after radiation, do ask for a chest xray.
