I finished my radiotherapy 3 weeks ago and was doing really well throughout it. But radiation does intensify up to 2 or so weeks after treatment finishes and that's where I had some problems with breaking skin. I creamed the radiated area a couple of times a day and had lots of cool showers throughout radiotherapy but I should have been started on Solugel the minute I saw the reddish skin under my left breast getting worse. Unfortunately I saw the nurses 5 days later and ofcourse by then it was a whole lot worse. But all is getting better now thankfully, and the nurses have been great. I have been in to the hospital twice a week for over 3 weeks so they can change the dressing and to generally check up on me. So finally, this week is the first week I haven't had to use the Solugel. I am still using the Sorbolene and will continue todo so as it helps moisterize the skin really well. My physio / lymphedema nurse has said that it's a good idea to use it indefinitely.
Good luck with it all, and remember to have those nice cool showers, and "cream" as often as you can.
Take care
