@Aggie I had radiation in 2011 at 1st diagnosis, my tattoos were so minute little teeny dots, they just look like tiny freckles, in fact they cannot even be seen. I think what you experienced was something very different obviously with yours. Radiation does have alot of complications and mine was to treat DCIS back then but I still had a recurrence 4yrs later same spot :/ it aggravated a heart palpitation thing I had years before and ended up having an ablation done in 2012 but no big deal. I also had a single mastectomy/diep flap reconstruction in Feb 2017 a year post chemo and was unable to have an implant due to skin damage and fragility. I am very happy with the decisions I made regardless and I never wanted an implant, so cannot recommend a Diep flap enough :D My radiation was zero cost, I went public for this, eventhough Ive always been a private patient. I did chemo privately in 2015 however, together with surgeries and then finally though my recon in public and saved myself $10,000. Everything is relative to each person, in terms of whats a problem.
