Radiation therapy
Hi I have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer I have had a partial mastectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. I am wondering about radiation therapy. Where this is available in Adelaide.

Including myself three of us found the breast cancer Radiation team at Lyell McEwin excellent. If I had to do it again I would happily return there. (Just had my 4th followup Mammogram & all is healthy so it does happen!) Staff were superb. I prefered to get treatment as early in the am as I could book in as then you get less holdups. I fortunately did not need chemo but several other friends I transported to chemo at Lyell McEwin were very pleased with the quality of service provided in that section. Do enquire if they have any accommodation options. Lots of prayers Patricia

The travel would make it hard. It was easy for me living close to the city and I went to work after treatment. I hope you can find somewhere to stay so that it doesn't cost extra.

It would certainly be preferable to stay in Adelaide. Some people get tired with all the travelling after radiation. Blessings & prayers memyselfI

- Hi Audrina and memyselfI, Thank you greatly for this information. It's good to read such positive news. I'm wondering how I will go as I live about 2 hours out of adel. I don't really want to drive home every day, that would make it maybe a five hour trip. Therefore I think I will choose to stay in adel. I go in Friday to get my results, and will know more about my treatment then. And I'm sure the BCN will discuss where it is available. Please keep in contact. Thank you Juli

Hi Juli. I had mine at St Andrews Hospital on South Terrace how ever I would have thought your breast team would be giving you that advise. My mum had hers radio at Flinders Private. I think you can also have it at the Tennyson Centre on South Road at Kurralta Park. I had the same op and now 7 years on am fit and healthy. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
