Radiation is next

Friday 26th April Radiation starts with the markers - but first one is on May 20th,  Nice break.  I have a friend coming to visit.  I only found out recently, believe it or not that the Stage word and the Grade were describing 2 different things.  Crazy I know, I thought the Drs had mixed something up.

So Im Grade 2, Stage 3, Grade indicates how aggressive it is, and the Stage is how far it has travelled.  So much to take in, no wonder I was confused.

Took awhile for me to work out I was Triple Neg too, no one told me I was, but all the information says I am!  So hence all the chemo and radiation and no other weapons for me.

I had my tumour removed, and the nodes, so Ive always thought I dont have breast cancer now, and mentally go with that.  This is all just back up stuff.  May as well be positive.

Lost the usual 2 kgs, and my appetite is back. Day 6 and I had a coffee this morning.  Im sure Im more positive because that was my last hit of Chemo, not having to do it again. My arm measurement was normal at the Physio, so the comp bandage and the basic massage Ive learnt is working (preventative).  The movement is so important though, wow do my muscles let me know when Ive been lying around.  Which reminds me, time to do a few stretches.  Thats it for today!  XX Bel

  • Hi Belinda, I like the honest and direct approach you explain what is happening and how you are feeling.

I did the Cradle mountain Dove Lake walk this last Thursday. Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I feel pretty pleased with myself and that I made it. It took 2 hours and a few steep parts, but not really hard. It was a bit cold too. Loved the variety of sub alpine and plateau plants. Nice to NOT see litter also.

If you feel up to it, you and your friend could  drive to Bridport and do the Wildflower Walk to Adams Beach. It takes an hour each way, but not hard though. I find it best to START near the Bridport Golf course.  You will see entrance to the walk and parking spaces near the  Course at the top of Main Street. Ask  a local if you cannot find it. Toilets in the town and take water, hat etc.

Enjoy your visiting friend.. Kathy.ox. I could even meet you before, or after, and your friend, for coffee at the Cafe near the newsagent.

  • Hey BellaI know what you mean when you say it is hard to get all the info correct especially in the beginning because it is all jimble jumble.  At the time you just seem to go through the processes as needed and it only when you can take all the info in that your brain absorbs it all.I am so glad you have a friend coming to spend some time with you so you can have some fun and have a good laugh together. Radiotherapy is a walk in the park compared to chemo so you will breeze through it.  You just need to look after yourself and not push yourself too hard.  You are bound to get tired from it all but you are young, fit and healthy so you should bounce back beautifully I am sure.I hope you are taking it easy as you work your way through the last of the chemo aftermath.PS:  Apologies - I am having trouble with my posts as the words are all running in to one another.  I am hoping Daina can help get it sorted.  :-)Lots of love, Mich xoxoxo
  • Radiation won't be anywhere near as bad as chemo. You are on the home stretch now girl! When you go for measure up you will lie on a table and a radiologist will draw over your chest with texta. You'll feel like a living roadmap! Your first zap is abit scary, especially when everyone runs out of the room and you feel like you are on the set of a science fiction movie. But then it becomes routine and just tedious.Enjoy your break and holla when you need radiation advice.
