Post radiotherapy (have lost track of days!)

It has been a little while since my last blog so time to update. Previously I was writing in Days but it's getting to far on now so I'm just going to use headings!

So I am now done and dusted with my radiotherapy - 25 sessions complete. I coped well, but my skin was a disaster! Red, purple and brown, and a little blistered. Since finishing last Tuesday the area has shed a whole layer of skin and is slowly getting back to normal. Couldn't work for the last two weeks of it as just couldn't wear a bra on the area! Oh well - there could be worse things!

So what's next? This week I have met with the fertility clinic. It looks like my partner and I are going to freeze some embreyo's for later down the track. I was lucky in that I was given the option prior to chemo of doing it and we decided not to (having said that we weren't ever going to have kids), however once I started chemo and there was a possiblity my period wouldn't come back we sort of thought we should have done it! Luckily my period came back just a few months after chemo, so the possiblity is still there. But being 34, and on Tamoxifen for 5 years means we wouldn't be able to start until I was 39. So putting some embreyo's on ice now is the way to go! If we don't use them then so be it, but at least we'll have the option!

Also met with the plastic surgeon. Due to family history and other factors I am opting to have a mastectomy on my other breast. So my next op will be mastectomy on left breast, with an implant straight in, plus removal of my tissue expander in my right breast, replaced with an implant. All set to happen around July this year which I am SUPER EXCITED about! It's like I can see the end in sight!!!

Anyway, so all is going well, and now just lots of appointments to get everything in place. :)
