Out in sympathy

Hello there, Just thought I'd share and ask... Since my mastectomy to my left breast at the start of May, my mum passing in conversation has mentioned her left breast has ached. Then at the of August, she was staying with me whilst I had my last chemo session. One morning she came into me and said " ever since your mastectomy my left breast has gone-out-in-sympathy, I've had this rash under my breast". I said you're crazy, have you changed your washing powder, your bra or anything? No, nothing. Was her reply. There was a serious red rash under her breast. Has anyone else experienced such an encounter? Enjoy, Karen

  • Oh, interesting and thanks for sharing. There are things in life that just have no explanation! Enjoy, Karen
  • Karen- my sister and I are only 10 months apart in age and she seemed to get similar aches and pains to her left breast ( the side I had removed) during the course of my chemo too.... She got checked out and all was good! Sympathy pains maybe?
  • Yes, I should get her to check its out. She's a tough one to get to the doctors. But shall mention it tomorrow. Enjoy Karen
  • Hi Karen, welcome to this wonderful site. This is a great place to ask questions and receive information. Your mum should probably visit her local GP have her breasts checked. It may well be nothing more than a rash, but we are always told to get any changes checked out just to be sure, and with pain involved certainly worth checking out. Love Chris xx
