I would definitely recommend the mepitel film. I had it put on the first session. It remained on for the entire 6 weeks plus 2 weeks after. You shouldn't need to use any cool packs whilst its on as it does a really good job of protecting the skin. I was doing a fair bit of exercise during radiotherapy so bits would peel off due to sweat but the nurse would just replace any parts that needed it. Hope this helps and everything goes well for you.
