Lumpectomy tomorrow

Hi, I haven't posted for awhile. Tomorrow I have my lumpectomy. I am nervous about the surgery as I have never had surgery before. The only time I've been in hospital was to have my son. I think it's just the unknown that worries me. I'll get results in a week and when they come back all clear, (Positive thinking) I'll start radiation in about 5 weeks or so. Can't wait for the whole thing to be finished. It has been a long process to get here. Oh we'll. In case people don't know. Target sell post surgery bras. It has a pocket for prosthesis if needed but also are good for comfort after any breast surgery. Anyway I'll pop back on in a week after I get my results. :-) Thanks for your previous kind words and encouragement. It's really good just to talk and get it out. Thanks :-)

  • I think it's different - biopsy just takes a  bit of tissue for testing, often is used when it's too difficult to get enough from a core biopsy. Many breast lumps are NOT cancerous. Lumpectomy removes a diagnosed cancer lump. Pretty much always radiation is advised after lumpectomy to destroy any tiny fragment that might have been missed, or any tiny cells elsewhere. Chemo will only be advised for siz of lump, and HER2 status and a bunch of other path results.

I have always trusted the advice of all the docs I have seen, if they say I should have it then I do. Have a good relationship with your doc, it counts.

    Good luck

  • Every good wish for surgery. I have everything crossed for good path results.I recovered well from a lumpectomy so I hope the same for you.

Aahhh bras are also exceptionally comfortable. I have worn those pretty much every day since my surgery last May.
