Lumpectomy tomorrow
Hi,
I haven't posted for awhile. Tomorrow I have my lumpectomy. I am nervous about the surgery as I have never had surgery before. The only time I've been in hospital was to have my son. I think it's ...
I think it's different - biopsy just takes a bit of tissue for testing, often is used when it's too difficult to get enough from a core biopsy. Many breast lumps are NOT cancerous. Lumpectomy removes a diagnosed cancer lump. Pretty much always radiation is advised after lumpectomy to destroy any tiny fragment that might have been missed, or any tiny cells elsewhere. Chemo will only be advised for siz of lump, and HER2 status and a bunch of other path results.
I have always trusted the advice of all the docs I have seen, if they say I should have it then I do. Have a good relationship with your doc, it counts.
Good luck
