It's Chemo Time
Well my journey is starting today attending my first chemo... Doing AC once every fortnight. The good news is (if there is ever good news with BC and chemo) is that they are trying out the "cold cap" on me for the very first time. I know that only 2 hospitals have them in Sydney and our area is the 1st to try, so lets hope it works and I don't loose my hair. Very excited and hope it works as they will be looking into bringing this treatment to our area for all the other women.
Wish me luck and staying positive....

"cold cap" sounds very interesting and I hope it works for you. Take care and keep us updated. I am up to day 20 with my radiation tomorrow, so one day, one step at a time.
Good luck and enjoy the Festive Season with lots of positive thoughts.

Best of wishes for a smooth transition through chemo. A friend of mine used an ice cap during her petit treatment, and she managed to keep a lot of her hair, with it just thinning a little. I hope that you have the same outcome. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ????????
Hi Chris
I have had my second chemo and I am doing the cold caps as well, I live in Sydney too. I do have some hair left but lost about 80% of my hair, mostly on the crown and sides and it started to fall out a few days before my second chemo session. I was a little disappointed as I was hoping that I wouldn't lose any, so don't pin too much hope on the cold caps and no loss of hair. At least the regrowth with cold caps is much quicker! Good luck x

Hi Chris. I found with chemo, that my worst days were generally about day 3 to 7. I had a different combination. Everyone reacts differently. Take all the medications as instructed, even if you don't feel nauseated. It does help.
I hope the ice cap works. It wasn't an option here, so I lost all my hair. Having said that, there is a sense of freedom in not having hair. I did buy a wig, for work, as I wanted to look "normal" . I have a lot of interactions with the public. The wig has never been terribly comfortable, & so I've decided this week, after 6 months, that I won't be wearing it any more. I finished chemo early October, & my hair is starting to grow back, so the wig isn't going to get any more comfortable.
Hope your chemo is uneventful. Take care, Lyn

Thanks Sandra, yes I didn't think the cap was that bad... the first 10 minutes was like you put your head in ice but then ok, what bothered me more was the strap under chin.
