Itchy blister rash with radiation

Hi all  I've had 13 fractions and another 7 to go but I've now come out with a very itchy rash. I would say there like little blisters.
I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow but if anyone has any remedies to get me through the night so I don't scratch my poor boob off
 would be greatly appreciated

  •  Thanks everyone I ended up doing the cold salt baths and doctor told me to use Dermaid  . I got that from the
chemist which worked well . Was so hard not to scratch. Sorry I haven't replied earlier While going through radiation
my son ended up in hospital for a month was too tired to even look at lap top
  • A girlfriend of mine told me that they used to apply mepitel one on the site prior to radiation...she said she had no issues during her radiation...i will be starting in about 4 wks so hoping to try all of these tips out
  • My onc gave me cortic to use. He also said I could take antihistamines. Hope you find something that helps. xx
  • I had the same and the pure aloe vera eased it, I think they called mine radiation pimples or radiation dermatitis ??

  • All the best, @kymragas - it is really hard NOT to scratch, eh!? (and BTW ... Welcome to the forum - not that we have people queuing up to join! LOL)

ANYTHING you care to ask - ask away & there will be someone here who should be able to offer a solution or suggestion!! xx

My personal theory - IF IN DOUBT - get it checked out!  ;)  (with your GP, BS/Breast Surgeon, BCN/Breast Care Nurse .... or those who've gone thru it before you, here on the forum!   ;)

  • That's true, @arpie. It also works well chilled, for an extra bit of soothing
  • Yep .... what  @lrb_03 says .... I got incredibly itchy and was advised the same.

salt is a natural healer, too.   All the best .. I hope it works for you.

Non scented Aloe Vera was also helpful for me ... and very cooling xx
  • From very early on during my radiotherapy,  I would boil water and make a solution of salt water, 1/2 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of water. I would chill it, then soak a washer and apply for 10 to 15 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day. It was very soothing
