Here goes - First treatment tomorrow!

Hi there I found this link tonight (first treatment tomorrow) probably would've been nice to start a little earlier but better late than never.

I'm in Hobart, Tasmania and was looking and hoping for other ladies that might be around me in a similar situation, or even maybe finished theirs (be nice when that day is close for me) although this is one of the good things about the online world doesn't really matter where anyone is does it?

LikeI said my first treatment is tomorrow - I'm having 4 chemo treatments then radiation after that - I've done a little wig window shopping but not purchased one yet, I'll go again next week for that although it seems a lot of ladies don't go with the wigs just choose the scarves, better go get some of these too just in case :)

Not looking forward to tomorrow but kinda want it over with at the same time, from reading your posts it seems a lot of the time the reality is not nearly as bad as whatever we might be imagining

Really look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like it

Good luck, big hugs and  smiles to everyone that reads this :)

  • Hi Mandy, Hoping that being 6 months after your post, you are well on the way to recovery? I'm a newby to this whole C thing. I have a 6cm growth in my right breast, booked in for a mastectomy on May 8th. ( I can feel my hair going greyer daily ) Totally missed everything that was said to me by the surgeon, but have an appointment at the Royal next Monday will be listening and questions at the ready. Any advice would be welcomed Suzicu

    Hi Mandy,

I just wanted to jump in and say welcome to the online network. I hope that the others experiences and support will help you through. :-)

How did your first treatment go? You are probably taking it easy this week.

I thought you might like to see a blog post put together from some of the women who have been before you.....

Have a look and maybe even a little laugh - Enjoy and good luck.

  • Hi Mandy

I have finished my chemo and just started radiation this week. Didn'tove the chemo - find me someone who did - but radaitionseems to be ok so far. I know all things are cumulative but I spose I'm just glad it's moving on to the next step. I have started on Arimidex for the hormones as well so that's another set of side effects to cope with.

I have my radiation at Holman - are you there for chemo ? I'd be happy to correspond or even meet for coffee if you would like to do that.

I went to the recommended wig lady (I need one for work) and it's a really nice one. Also only had to pay $57 after rebates. I wear hats and scarves and things most of the time though. Have to get a new lot now it's summer !

Do get in touch if you'd like to.

Goodluck with your chemo. Stay positive.

  • Hello there Mandy, I was just reading your post, and hope your first treatment goes well:).I am 52 years old and first found out I had aggressive breast cancer in december2010, I had a routine mangram and got the shock of my life when they told me I had advanced breast cancer, I started chemo straight away for 12 months, then went and had a mastectomy (once the cancer was small enough to operate) in july this year, I then went on to have 30 treatments of radiation, and now about to start another bout of chemo, if you would like to chat, send me a message.

    Regards Dianne Williams
