Hair loss
Hello Ladies,
I've just finished round 3 of AC and still have fluff on my head.
Has as anyone experienced this? Shouldn't I have a smooth head by now?

- ZoffielMemberYep, mine doesn't fit into my pants any more. Even though I haven't gained weight I've lost muscle tone and my body shape has changed. I'm flabby and my arse has flattened and broadened.Finances and vanity being as they are, I won't buy new clothes. I'll be making mumus out of old sheets if I can't start getting on top of this. Phhffft.
- viking1MemberYes, I think hair loss is the least of my worries! I am more concerned about my butt!
- ZoffielMemberNah, leave it alone @viking1. Anything that is supposed to reverse the effects of chemo is likely to be a) a scam b) so bloody nasty you want nothing to do with it.
Your hair will grow back. Yes, some people get poor or limited growth, deal with that if it happens. Life is stressful enough through your treatment, don't get sucked into a situation where you add extra layers which cost a fortune.
Bald is not the end of the world. I think many of us come to see it as a right of passage. Unwelcome as that may be, it makes my hackles come up when I hear about people trying to exploit us during that time. Marg xxx - viking1MemberThanks guys! I was also wondering if when you say 'taxel' are you referring to Docetaxel? I'm trying to catch up on the lingo. I have 3 rounds of FEC (over 9wks) and 3 rounds of Docetaxel (over 9 weeks). At some stage with the latter thet add the Herceptin 17 injections in tummy every 3 weeks = 51 weeks. What is AC? Ta! Using a hair net at the moment as head is really painful. Will see if it improves and go for the buzz prolly later this wk.
- NannatashMemberHi I had fluff now hair finally but I look crew cut eyelashes lost some n starting to come back I just wack on the mascara thick have to start shaving again all the best x
- AfraserMemberBest to check with medicos before using - I thought Rogaine was primarily for female pattern baldness, not for post chemo application. Herceptin should not make your hair fall out - mine started regrowing while still on Taxol and grew steadily while on Herceptin. Didn't have radiation but can't see why it would affect regrowth. Best you can do for your ear is nurture your scalp, eat well and treat new hair very gently.
- melclarityMember@viking1 yes pointless through chemo. It wont grow whilst on chemo. It actually grows in quite consistently so i didnt think at any point i needed something to help it grow.
Radiation and herceptin dont affect hair loss - viking1MemberMine is being shaved tomorrow as I can't deal with clumps coming out lol. It happened overnight almost on Day 14 of my first chemo. My hairdresser is trying to talk me into using something to speed up hair growth when I'm bald and whilst doing chemo. It's a bit like Rogaine but very expensive. Logically, I would imagine it is pointless doing this whilst having chemo ... still got 5 sessions left, 3 weeks apart. Surely the chemo would just keep destroying whatever is trying to grow? I could understand trying it after chemo unless radiation and herceptin makes your hair fall out too? ta xxx

- AmazoniaMemberMy hair started to grow back white during Taxol after AC.
it was very slow and now 3 months later I have black roots. ?
Very strange but great to have hair.
My eyebrows and lashes grew back a month ago, almost overnight. Yay.
