Hair Growing Back
Hi All,
I am on my last paclitaxel chemo next week and staring to look beyond the chemo bad ass.
I am just completing 8 courses of dose dense chemo - 4 xAC, 4x Paclitaxel and am wondering how long it took for others to grow their hair back. I know this is assuming it has grown back sufficiently, as some women are unlucky with hair regrowth.
Just hoping you can share you experiences of when your hair grew back enough to actually feel like you had enough to do something with and any changes in your hair regrowth from before chemo.
Many thanks,
Jo

- kmakmMemberThank you @Sister
- SisterMemberhttp://aromababy.com/shopping/aromababy-skincare Here's the website - not sure if the products are quite the same as they were 12 years ago but may be worth asking.
- SisterMember@kmakm My middle kid (the one who get exczema) used to get cradle cap badly as a baby. There was a shampoo product out at the time called "Aromababy" I think. It had chamomile in it and it was fantastic.
- kmakmMemberGAH! Sorry @JJ70! Just tellin' it like it is sista!
I'm coming up on nine weeks I think. I've still got five fingernails desperately trying to fall off. I've cut them as low as they can go so they don't catch on anything and rip off. Eyebrows and eyelashes are a motheaten disgrace. And my toenails are once more covered in polish so I don't even know what's going on underneath.
I just washed my fluff with some all natural organic baby shampoo that said on the label contained oils to help prevent cradle cap. I must say my scalp is less itchy now.
Definitely get that jojoba oil on. Good luck! K xox - JJ70MemberOh Kate!! Thanks for this post about scabby bits...I'm like WTF?? Good to know I have that too! I am going to start using my jojoba oil. I keep forgetting to put it on. It has rosemary, thyme etc in it...all good stuff for hair growth apparently. My hair is fluffy too, a little itchy, but not too bad. How many weeks post chemo are you again? I am 6 weeks.
- kmakmMemberMy hair is growing back. There are some bristles but mostly it's the fluffiest fluff you've ever felt. However my scalp feels crusty. I got some friends to look at it and they said yes, scabs, it's cradle cap. Cradle cap?? At 51?!
It's itchy as all get out and I don't want to dislodge a scab and get an infection. Has anyone else experienced this? Do I treat it the same as a baby's head and rub olive oil into it?
Breast cancer, the gift that keeps on giving... - kmakmMemberLove it @JJ70! Any chance of a pic?!
- JJ70MemberAll the money I will have saved on colouring and styling my hair ($180 every 6 weeks - let's say for 8-10 months in total) about $1000, has already disappeared as I have gone nuts on heaps of headscarves and a gorgeous wig. OOPS!!
- SoldierCrabMemberhey I saved heaps during my 9mths of Chemo as all my hair was whisked away by chemo ..... I would save $120 per month on waxing ...
- SisterMemberI finally don't have to worry about not being able to shave under the arm on the mastectomy side! Or my legs. Best XX I've ever had (I won't say the most painless, though). Haven't shaved my legs for weeks. And at the moment, my eyebrows are still there, mostly. I really don't want to lose my eyebrows and eyelashes - going to the Look Good thing on Saturday to learn how to fool people!
