First Chemo this morning
Hi Ladies,
I had my first Chemo today I'm feeling pretty okay, a little tired and lightheaded but being lightheaded is apparently one of the side affects I need to keep up my fluids, It's 19 years today since the day my husband and I had our first date and we are still together and will have been married for 18 years in January, he said to me on the way to chemo this morning which to me at the time was a really romantic and supportive thing to say to me and I quote " there's nowhere else I would rather be than right here by your side today" he's been there at every appointment and with me evry step of the way so far through my journey. Chemo wasn't what I was expecting at all everyone was so friendly and caring and my port pain has gone away which is awesome and I had to see my surgeon today and he has been amazing he's happy with everything, my mother in law has been wonderful she picked up my daughter from school and helps look after her and around the house I'm very lucky to have such wonderful support because a lot of people out there don't you don't realise it until you start treatment, I'm going to write a diary of my journey as it might help someone one day you never know I am going to beat this thing 1 treatment of chemo down 5 to go. Sending Cuddles to everyone and positive energy Anitaxx

Hi Robyn,
I wish you all the best for your first chemo cycle they will send you home with tablets to help with the side effects they helped me yesterday when I felt nauseous but nothing happened so I'm grateful for that do you have to travel far for your chemotherapy It's about 20 minutes for us we live in Darwin and there is a forum on tonight my husband and I are going to really looking forward to it if they have one coming up where you live go if you are feeling up to it and just some advice take someone with you tomorrow you need a support person and you'll be fine I was worried until I had my information session last Wednesday then I was okay meeting the nurses before chemotherapy makes you feel at ease sending you a big cuddle and heaps of positive vibes. Hi Anita, good to hear today went well. That first treatment can be pretty scary. I have my fourth cycle tomorrow, my first of docetaxel, so that's a whole new ball game again. I found with FEC , I was ok the first few days, ordinary the second week, the better again the last week. I've managed to continue to work up until now, with a little sick leave here and there. I'm lucky to have an extremely supportive workplace. Not sure how I'll be the next 3 cycles, just taking it one day at a time. However, if all goes well, and there are no delays, I will have my surgery at the end of October. It feels great to have that date!!
Take care, Lyn

Hi Anita great to have one down. Husbands can say some wonderful things sometimes, you are very lucky to have him. Take it easy over the next few days, I found the fatigue was hard to cope with. Sending you a hug and a smilexxx
