First chemo 14th July

Hi all, I have been reading posts from very inspiring women over the past weeks but this is the first time that I've actually put anything forward myself.

I was dx with invasive ductal C grade 3 on the 29th April.

Wide excision lumpectomy and 2 sentinel nodes..... Cancer 2.2cm also 2cm ductal cancer insitu. Hormone neg - still waiting for HER2 results.

It's amazing that before my dx life was too busy and I couldn't fit anything else in ..... now suddenly I have time for the multiple appointments etc that we're bombarded with.

Well a new chapter of my journey begins on Tuesday ...I begin chemotherapy - AC and Taxol.....not sure yet as to if I'll need the Herceptin. Then after chemo ends will then have 5 weeks of radiotherapy.

I have bought some hats online and have started to wear them around the house...my youngest daughter was a bit taken back by it....she said that it's all becoming more real.

As Christian my girls and I believe God is with us and gives us the strength to carry on....He will walk with me through-out this Journey.

  • Thank-you Jane....at present it is a bit surreal but I agree...tomorrow is going to be a bit daunting especially as its going to be an information session as well. I've already met some of the oncology nurses and they are lovely.

  • Hi Quest, just wanted to wish you all the very best for tomorrow. The first session is a bit daunting but I'm sure you will be well looked after - my oncology nurses were amazing and a great source of compassion and information - hopefully you'll find the same. Best wishes, Jane xx

Welcome to the network, you're in a special place with some inspiring people. Just take it 1 appointment at a time, and keep in touch with the network. You'll read some really useful information, and get lots of support. All the very best for your treatment. ??

  • Thank-you Neereda for sharing parts of your journey and with ways that you were able to cope with while having chemo.

Congrats on being on the other side...what a great accomplishment.

Hoping that the Herceptin is kinder to you!

    Thank-you xxx

  • Hi, I have come through the other side now with chemo, radiation and the operation completed. I still have Herceptin for a while yet but during chemo I found listening music really helped me. I listened to music that made me want to dance and sing which really took my mind off chemo and it made the time pass quickly as well. Some people read or take a friend or family member to talk to. My hospital has TV's also but music was my choice when there by myself. Good luck with your journey, my thoughts are with you xxx

  • Thank-you Keryn. I'm so pleased to hear that you are doing so well....it is encouraging to hear from others that have 'walked in my shoes' and made it through.

  • Hi there. I'm glad you have found our support community worth while and even if you don't post again you will find support just by being a part of a bigger thing. Your journey so far sounds similar to mine and although hard we continue. Your first chemo is daunting, take someone you can bitch too without being judged but you will fine the nurses are angels and especially onco nurses seem to be one more step up there. They are there for you, ask questions and try to relax, read or just observe, its an amazing journey, good and bad. I hope all goes well for you, now and into the future. XXXX.
