Feeling dreadful
had my first TAC chemo 3 days ago. I feel terrible, like I've been run over by a bus. This was only the first session, 122 days to go! My God, this is awful, way worse than I thought. Can I do it?

Glad to hear you're starting to feel a bit better. Gotta love ginger beer. I also drink ginger cordial in hot water, like tea, as I've gone off coffee, & never did like tea
Take care, Lyn
Thanks everybody for the support. I do feel a bit better today so I think I might have turned the corner. Got a different anti nausea meds and ginger beer.
The support and encouragement was wonderful. You are all lovely !
Hi Oldduck
I am just coming up to my second tac. The first one was pretty horrendous. I have read a few times that the second one is often not as bad. But on a good note. Just remember things that have helped this time so at least you don't have to figure it all out again. i.e. I had a horrendous itchy rash after 4 days around my neck, and unfortunatley it happend right at the beginning of the weekend. I had it for 4 days all up - just horrendous - until I finally got a script from onco that worked. so at least if it happens this time I already have the cream - do you get what I mean. So that was awful but I wont have to face that again because i already have the cream to combat that at least.
You can do it. From somewhere does come an inner strength that just gets you from one day to the next - one foot in front of the other step by step. xo
Hugs and kind thoughts to you! This is going to get easier. I was told that through chemo you tend to feel awful treatment week, ok second week and great 3rd week, and then you start all over again. You are no doubt at the worst part of the cycle. My experience of chemo was that it throws up a range of side effects - the challenge is to keep finding solutions to manage them. You may find that you will find subsequent rounds easier if you can get help managing the symptoms you are now feeling...... just remember to keep your treaters informed and keep asking for solutions. Good luck!
Chemo does take its toll. I found the same, 3 days after I bomb dived. It only lasted a few days. Rest when you need, have good pain relief, I find Targin is great, especially at night, it's slow release so seems to last. Only needed to take it for 3 days. Panadol in between. Try to keep positive this definitely helps and have good people around you. Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs Sonya ????
Yes you can do it!!!! It's not easy and certainly not pleasant. Just keep telling yourself short term pain for long term gain. My 6 months of TCH were the hardest 6 months of my life. Like you I wondered if I would get through. Here I am now 10 weeks post active treatment 16 months down the track. Tell the onc every single side effect as there are things they can do to take the edge off. Hang in there. You will get through this. Sending you positive energy. Karen xox
Yes you can do it. You will have days where you wonder how but then you will start to feel a bit better and then almost like yourself again and by the time the next one comes around you will know that you can do it. It's pretty tough but we all believe in you! Emma Xx
Yes you can do it...i thought the same a few days after my first AC chemo but before the next one came around i was ok. Like the ladies have said just take it one day at a time and let your oncologist know about all the side effects. Big hugs Anne
You can get through it Honey, your first one is the worst. Have a talk to your oncologist and nurses, they'll give you advice and medications to help you manage your side effects. As Rowdy says, just take it one day at a time, and you'll get through. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ????
Yes you can do it, just think about getting through it one day at a time. Sending you a hugxx
