Comfort food through chemo?
Hi everyone,
Just want idea's for easy foods that helped you through chemo.
I know that we don't feel like eatting and have to force ourselves. I'm finding that really hard and feel like that's all I'm doing is forcing myself.
So any recipes or idea's will be great. Soups, pasta's.....anything! I've been living on Pasta and although I love Pasta I'm getting a little sick of it.

About the only thing I wanted to eat was tinned spaghetti ! The tiny little tins. I tried all kinds of gentle stuff but nothing wanted to go down, so I just nibbled on apples and managed the occasional banana. My favourite cappucinos had to go - right through until I finished. Weird. I didn't even want a cup of tea. I really had to force myself to drink at all.
Whatever you want - eat it. My onc said if chocolate is all you can manage go for it !
This too will end.

Hi,
It is hard but i as well made shakes with fruit, but also those protein drinks like up and go were good for me, scrambled eggs and omolettes. When i felt nausea i just nibbles on clix biscuits as they are soft and melt in your mouth when you get the mouth ulcers.

I avoided the traditional "comfort food" and went for the 'easy to digest" options for the first 8 to 10 days. That included, juices, smoothies, and soup. Weetbix for breakfast, a banana smoothy, and home made soup (broth based not cream based). I have always selected foods that wont put on weight either, but thats up to you. I really enjoyed grapes or watermelon during summer, still eat the grapes each day. The recipe books I borrowed from the Cancer Council were helpful too. I did have Tuna Mornay or pasta bake style food at the end of the 10 days. Try to avoid junk food, or hi carb foods, unless you plan on going for a run after (joking). Good luck Vanessa. XX Bel
