Chemo Day 1
Hi everyone.
I thought i would give you a heads up about my chemo today. Firstly i did kick its butt after the 1st hour. The 1st hour was the hardest as i chose the cold cap. I had snug warm blankets but oh my head killed. Had Panadol and then had some drug adavan oj I cannot remember. Once i had that i was fine. Went to the toilet alot with all the fluids. At home im ok. Headache and a bit nauseas.
Love to you all xx

- melclarityMemberMy Oncology Nurse picked up the side effects I was having, so odd. Ativan though was the only thing that took the edge off, I used it all the time, not just for the infusion. x Hope you're still managing ok x
- Trikki2MemberHey @melclarity - Yes im on pravin which is the same as Maxilon. I have the wafers. I might ask if i can have those
Xxx - kmakmMemberI found the time went quite quickly too. But I had an allergic reaction to one of my infusion drugs and so was dosed up with phenergen. Drifted right off I did and dozed the rest of the time away!
- melclarityMemberCongrats @Trikki2 yep 1st is the scariest, glad it's done, day at a time and keep up all your meds. sending good vibes, I too had Ativan all the way through chemo, anti nausea meds didnt work, maxolon made me worse, I was allergic to it. You'll do great x
- Trikki2MemberHey @kmakm
Yes well i had to wee alot lol. There wasn't alot of time to do things. Nurses checking on me. Talked to the ladies next to me. He ducked away for lunch and to get some work stuff but he was great
Xxxxxx Trikki2 - kmakmMemberWell done! I had Ativan & paracetemol before the cold cap & I reckon it helped. For me the first 12 minutes were almost unbearable, and the rest of the first half hour unpleasant but after that it was OK.
I concur with everyone above.
The
First
Is
The
Worst!
I was a mess before my first one, but dry eyed by the fourth. What did you end up doing during the infusion? And how did your husband cope? It can be difficult for our beloveds to watch us.
Good luck with the side effects. Don't suffer in silence. If something is troubling you, get onto a doctor or nurse asap. K xox - ZoffielMemberGood on you. One down. It's a lucky dip; you can only give it your best shot. Mxx
- Trikki2MemberThanks @"Kiwi Angel" if hubby wasn't there i would have ditched it.. calming drugs work a treat.
Xxx - Kiwi_AngelMember@Trikki2 the first one is definately the worst mentally and they can all vary physically. The cold cap can be a killer - I found about the first 20 minutes for me and then everything went numb. Congrats of having one chemo done!! xo
- Trikki2MemberThanks i definately will xxx
