Chemo Day 1
Hi everyone.
I thought i would give you a heads up about my chemo today. Firstly i did kick its butt after the 1st hour. The 1st hour was the hardest as i chose the cold cap. I had snug warm blankets but oh my head killed. Had Panadol and then had some drug adavan oj I cannot remember. Once i had that i was fine. Went to the toilet alot with all the fluids. At home im ok. Headache and a bit nauseas.
Love to you all xx

- Trikki2MemberThanks called and have some codeine to try and the zofron wafers xxx
@Sister - SisterMemberCodeine really is the only thing for pain if you can tolerate it. Ativan has been a lifesaver for me for nausea - the bonus is that it also helps you sleep some of it off. I also suffer a lot from reflux/indigestion from the chemo and Somac or Nexium help with that. Shake me - I rattle.
- kezmuscMemberOndansetron all the way for me for nausea. Mersyndol (if you can take codeine) is a good headache zapper I find. Hope you feel better soon.
xoxoxo - kmakmMemberYou've done the right thing ringing for more pain relief. I got extra for the bone pain. There are lots of nausea options to try as well. Keep asking & pushing until you find something that works for you. I had a constant headache during my firsr round of chemo but it didn't bother me much again until the fourth round. Hang in there. - EastmumMemberI’ve found one panadeine forte + one panadol does the trick for the bad headache. Hope you get some good rest and relief today xx
- ZoffielMemberAnd take the stemital or what ever you have been given for nausea. You might have to change that around too until you find which med works for you. Try some soda water today, it can give you enough gas to have a gentle belch which can help with that sick feeling. Yeah, I know, gross, but lots of this stuff is revolting. Mxx
- melclarityMemberI have to agree with @Zoffiel I tried endone but it didnt do anything for me and I cant take codeine.Gee I was pissed! I suffered bone, muscle and nerve pain moreso once I hit Taxol. Definitely call them today and ask what you can take, they can fax a script to your Pharmacist. x
- jennyssMemberDear @Trikki2, Everybody's different, but I think most people find the worst side effects happen in the first 8 or so days; and then hopefully you start to feel better before your next cycle. I found it very useful to keep a diary in an old exercise book. Your pattern will emerge. And maybe track your temperature too. Best wishes from jennyss in Western NSW
- ZoffielMemberHang in there @Trikki2
When the uninitiated think of chemo, no-one ever mentions pain. It can be a big issue, headaches, neck aches, bones, muscles--who would have thought tongue pain was a 'thing'?
If you are happy to take a few more pills, ask for pain relief, I found endone or codeine helped; to be honest I yearned for heroine and the bliss of pain free sleep. That would have been naughty overkill, but you can't blame a girl for speculation. Some physicians say you don't need analgesia. Screw them. It's all about you and you will have to advocate for yourself, push for what you think you need. - melclarityMember@Trikki2 yes I recall the headache being the worst and not much helped. Ativan is all I took as anti nausea meds didn't work or they did to a point maybe, it's awful honestly. I couldnt drink water as it added to the nausea, that's why they decided for my next 3 infusions to go to hospital for 2 days to hydrate me. Hang in there and only look at a day at a time. Remember to you are human and I remember moments I crumbled big deal!!!! you are allowed to, then you'll brush yourself up and it does get better, by mid 2nd week you pick up again and the 3rd week you are normal again. xx
