Chemo 3, day 6.

Chemo 3 day 6, 2nd March, 2016. Charming day today, right on the most intensive of chemo side affects days and full of pain killers I got two letters in the mail which I have no idea what to do with.

One is the oncology appointment but instead of the day before my rostered 4th chemo where he will say my blood tests are ok and I am good to have the final chemo dose, the appointment is for the following Monday when I will be as sick as a dog. Why, I have no idea?

Letter two: Please be advised you have a review appointment with oncology.( I looked on the appointment sheet and there is no wording of “review’ on it anywhere.)We wish to advise you that your initial doctor’s referral has expired. In order to have ongoing care, make an appointment with your referring doctor (the one I no longer see as I have a new Gp doctor) to obtain a new referral.

Honestly you would think the stress and treatment cruel enough without them pulling a stunt like this! I’m going to bed, stuff em all.

  • Brenda as wonderful I have found this hospitals doctors and nurses and Kellie from elective surgery, I find the admin side absolutely appalling. I know they are understaffed and its not their fault. but man its frustrating. I work for my gp and I know we wait weeks and weeks and weeks to get discharge summaries, tests we have done and ask to send the hospital a copy for some reason go missing. It seriously does my head in. I got a letter today to say that they will ring me for a survey soon. I'll be letting them know they need to get more admin staff!

  • Got dug out of bed this arvo by the phone which I missed the call, not quick enough. Message left to call this number. Apparently a physio telephone appointment but she has patients now. I'm going back to bed.

  • Deal with it when you are t able or get your current gp to contact them in your behalf...

it brings to mind an argument I had with a radiologist when my dad was in hospital... They called me to say he didn't turn up for his ct scan.... I responded by telling them he was in hospital and thought the nurses had cancelled... She argued back and said he would now have to pay! I burst into tears and said at the top of my voice 'my dad is in hospital and he's literally taking his last breaths! How dare you be so rude ' then the nurse grabbed the phone off me and gave the caller a serve and a half!  ... I know they have a job to do but wow!

Hope  you are feeling better soon Brenda ... Tomorrow is another day

    xx

  • I got my request for referral (which thankfully I now have a non-ended dated one in place from my GP so I never have to face that again) and my routine 2 yearly letter notifying me I needed a smear test in the same week - needless to say I just rolled my eyes and put them both in the bin.  If you don't laugh you cry :)

    Cheers
