Carboplatin and taxol
so here is my official treatment plan- carboplatin and taxol day one, and taxol days 8 and 15 for 12 weeks (4 cycles), followed by act every 2 weeks for 8 weeks (4 cycles).
Anyone done this regime?
Any tips on what to pack in my 'chemo' bag on treatment day?
Thanks

- kmakmMemberWell done! The fear of the unknown is shocking. Getting the first one under your belt gets rid of that. I hope you have a good sleep tonight. K xox
- MaryB83MemberSo it's all done. I was there 5 hours but it all went smoothly. Feeling a little tired now but 1 down, 15 to go!
- kmakmMemberOoh yes @Brenda5, that's a good tip. One of my infusions was crazy cold and my whole forearm was freezing. When I mentioned it to the nurse and she felt it she was shocked. The heat packs made it much better. Never suffer in silence Mary, always speak up!
- Brenda5MemberI took my whole laptop and a dvd movie and headset. Once they had the chemo all set up and happening I got someone to set up my laptop and plugged it in to one of the many spare outlets behind the chair. I also chatted on face book to a friend. Take water to drink on the way home. My throat got really dry really fast.
Oh and since your first one takes so long and its two sorts, be aware that second bag sitting up there waiting for hours ends up being really cold when its infused to you. I ended up asking for a heat pack to warm it on my arm as it went in and it was loads nicer. ;) - kmakmMemberNo worries luv. Good luck today! I hope it all goes smoothly. K xox
- MaryB83MemberThanks @kmakm I needed to hear that. All my friends and family are saying the same thing, but it's easier to believe coming from someone who's been there (or is still there)!
- kmakmMemberYou'll be right Mary. Lots of folk here have done it and made it through. It's not fun but it's rarely as bad as we think it's going to be. They've got good meds for most side effects. Remember to be kind to yourself, accept all offers of help, go for a walk most days (it helps lessen side effects), drink plenty of water and eat as healthy a diet as you can manage. We're here for you, holding your hand as you go. We've got you, and you've got this! K xox
- MaryB83MemberSo I start my chemo tomorrow. Super nervous. Still can't believe it's real!

- smokie08MemberHi MaryB83 I had the same treatment as you did the AC first every 2 weeks for 4 cycles then on to taxol and stated carbo in the 4th dose of the weekly taxol. Its doable but can be a a tough but you will get through it. Take care
