4th and final chemo

18/3/2016 4th and final chemo day1  Pretty painless delivery of chemo today as you can see, no red face of pain this time on my pics. They did however take quite a while to find a vein including using ultrasound and tried for what I think was actually an artery. Luckily it was so deep the needle couldn't reach it. Son bought pizza for dinner, nom nom nom.

  • The needles didn't really hurt that much and to their credit they did get a new needle out each time so they weren't using blunt ones. I was just happy they found a vein and didn't have to go slicing me to find a vein for one more lousy chemo. I have a high pain threshold for needles which does help. Tip - big vein and the chemo liquids don't hurt. Piddly little hand vein and you can bet it will hurt. The last one was a hand vein and the stuff escaped into my hand and caused a chemical burn that only just healed 3 weeks later. Although dangerous to use the elbow vein as it can escape up in to the muscle above, as long as I kept my elbow locked in the open position we were goodo. It was a breeze.

  • Congrats on your final chemo Brenda - it must be such a relief not to have to be a human pincushion again! Rest up xx

  • Fantastic news that is was your last chemo and it was pretty painless. You look quite relaxed there you beautiful lady. I know the pain of trying to find a vien. I am dreading the possibilty of chemo for that reason alone. The certainly had a good go. Ouchie... What a good son for bringing you dinner. I hope you have a good weekend and rest well. Good luck for what comes next. Hugs, Jacqui xxx
