Hives

Been on Letrozole for 9 months. A few side effects (weight gain, hot flushes, occasional diarhroea). But now I have hives on my Labia Majora. I've been using Aloe Vera which has stopped the actual itching. Any suggestions on dealing with hives? Because it's from medication I don't know if it can be cleared up.
  • Hi @SuzyS First port of call is your GP who can diagnose what it actually is. Once that happens you know exactly what you are dealing with which makes treatment so much easier. The ladies on here are amazing with helping out how to deal with different side effects. My itch was caused by lichen schlerosis but you don't want to be treating for that if you have something entirely different. All the best
  • @Blossom1961
I'm seeing one of my specialists tomorrow & intend to talk to him about it.
  • Interesting to see what your Specialist suggests.  Last year I broke out in hives after major surgery and was told to take Antihistamines.
    Best wishes for tomorrow's appointment
    Take care
  • Hello @SuzyS. I'm so sorry for you, how horrible for you.
Just wondering what your specialist said?
Were the hives caused by the hormone blocker?
I heard that sometimes people can become allergic to them.
    Hope it's been sorted out?
    Sending hugs,
    Cindi x
  • Hi I didn’t get hives from Letrazole but did get an immediate skin rash on my sun exposed parts of my body ( especially neck and chest) after starting capecitabine.
my oncologist prescribed a steroid creme that settled it down.
i found staying out of the sun helped me.

  • Saw my surgeon for check up and spoke to hime about hives. He suggested using antihistamine cream and dose of antihistamine tabs.
If it doesn't clear up in the two weeks, have to see doc.
So far the itching has stopped so I have my fingers crossed.
  • @Julez1958 My radio oncologist warned me about the sun. Not a problem for me because I am an autistic recluse...lol, so I rarely go outside.

  • Hives all cleared up after using antihistime cream and tablets, thank goodness.
  • Good news @SuzyS the itchy hive are the pits. I’m still taking clarentine for my itch. It kicks in at about the 2nd and 3rd week of the Ibrance. Im now using an oatmeal wash Which seems to be helping as well
