Itch Hives on Day 8 after Chemo, Feeling Warm Sleeping at Night
Hi all, I have had 3 rounds of TC with Herceptin so far. I do feel that I feel warmer than normal though I am not having fever, especially with cycle 3. On the 8 day after chemo, I broke out in massive itchy hives for a few days. I believe it is due to the Taxocete. QV/Cetaphil helped thank God! Steriods helped a bit I guess but anti-histimines (Claratyne and Phenergan) did not seem to help so it was concluded to be Taxocete rather than me eating something wrong.<br><br>Has anyone had this sort of experience? Itchy rash break out as well as feeling really warm sleeping at night? I am someone who's dread of the cold but even with aircon on, I feel warm. Even my pee feels warmer! (NO FEVER and otherwise feeling well).<br><br>My oncologist never seems to have an answer.<br><br>Thanks.<br>

There is hydrocortisone cream from the chemist too, I find it helps with allergic reactions that itch like crazy, such as ant or March fly bites.
I would be very hesitant about the next round of Chemo too, the reaction would have freaked me out.
Some of the side effects we experience are not always common.
Mine are severe headaches with FEC, brought on with the C bag and lasting several days. I also have a lot of body shaking. The Onc just looks puzzled.
I have recovered but I want to ask and share about this. I bought off the shelf steriod ointment but the QV and Cetaphil worked wonders so I did not need the steriod cream in the end. - I wonder if the same thing as you use for Chicken Pox would help calm it down, like pine tarsol baths and calamine lotion.

And the rash came only on day 8, not even an instant reaction with Taxocete. The thing I can be thankful about is it lasted nearly 3 days. I have read somewhere where patients had suffered for weeks. Have to find little little things to be thankful for.
But having said this, I am very hesitant about last chemo! And it 's 4 days' time. - Well I hope you get to the bottom of it, poor thing. Doesn't look much fun.
Yes my friend who has worked in allergy clinic before said they were EM rashes. So she said it was drug reaction to Taxocete, not to my body's own immune response. I am not sure. - Yes...nornally just red blotchy sensitive skin not like you've had...poor thing.
- Thanks Primek and Tracey B, I am fine now but the rash was from last Tues evening till Friday night. They looked like hives and super itchy. I did not bathe those few days lol it was very cold in Melbourne. But slapping the rash with QV or Cetaphil was the way to go! Even anti-histamines hardly helped. I took Dexmethsone (steriod). Thankfully it's all over now!!! Oncologist still says this rash is atypical of Taxotere.
