Happy New Year

Options
2016 was a very challenging year for me as I lost my mobility through fractures in my femors.   I am told my condition which was caused by a bone density drug is rare.   As my bone composition had changed/weakened I now have rods in both femurs which are great, but given the bone was not strong, I fractured twice which meant getting over this health event took out most of 2016.
Walking and enjoying life again.  Here is a quote that was sent to me by a friend.   I think this is all of us.   Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2017.

Happy New Year to you too, Karen!  What a year you just finished - so glad you are walking and enjoying activities again.

May I ask which bone density drug you were on?  I am now on one too. xx

Happy New Year to you Karen. I have just finished my first cycle of IV chemo this afternoon with probably another 5 cycles  to go and my hair is falling out already! This will be the 3rd time I have lost my hair. After reading about the year you have had I have nothing to complain about. A few months ago my oncologist thought I may have to have a pin in my left hip to stabilize it but after the orthopedic specialist checked all my scans he said the cancer was in hard bone in the top of my femur so at present it doesn't need any intervention. Sometimes it is hard to get back up when you are knocked down but some how we draw on some inner strength and fight back. I hope you have a much better year. I will be celebrating 20 year this year since I first had breast cancer in 1997 . When I finish chemo I will be ready to celebrate.  Wendy

Happy New Year Karen. I am crossing fingers, toes, eyes and everything else that 2017 is better for you. Honestly you are a warrior, a survivor. Hope your theme song is Tubthumping because the lyrics "I get knocked down but I get up again, you're never going to keep me down" is spot on. I saw the trailer for the upcoming movie Wonder Woman yesterday and she has nothing on you!

    All the best

Karen, Happy New Year to you and you have every right to bid farewell to 2016 with great delight.

Many people tell us that we are brave or inspiring however I think that your ordeal certainly proves that you are both.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful words from your friend - clearly she know you very well !

Very best wishes for 2017 and glad you are out being "independent" again.
