Triple negative breast cancer
I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last year and had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. My cancer was PALB2 positive and I had a oophorectomy 6 weeks ago to reduce risk of ovarian cancer. I was post menopausal before oophorectomy but am now experiencing significant menopausal symptoms. Anyone else experienced this and what helps?85Views0likes1CommentLumpectomy: exercise, OT etc.. before surgery ?
I have completed neoadjuvant chemotherapy (July-Dec 2019) and I'm scheduled for a lumpectomy next week and most likely full axilla clearance. There was no advice from my doctor regarding seeing an occupational therapist or physiotherapist prior to surgery. I would like to find out what others have done prior to surgery to improve outcomes and avoid lymphedema, cording etc..121Views0likes8CommentsIntro- Triple Negative and Hodgkins Lymphoma
Hello Beauties, Found a lump in late Feb which was Triple negative breast cancer. 6 months to live if no treatment. When advised, I had found out day before I also have Hodgkins Lymphoma (returned) in 4 places near heart and pancreas. Right now all All 6 lesions have shrunk. On chemo no 10 for TNBC (AC and taxol).. In my 5th month of BC chemo. Surgery looming. Awaiting surgical appt soon. I am 3rd generation with BC but brca negative. Lots of decisions coming up. Surgeon talked mastectomy last time. If I have reconstruction I am guessing it will have to be after chemo/rads for the hodgkins and I may need rads for BC after mastectomy. It's been a hard road. Still a way to go. Wish life was back to normal soon... Thanks ladies. I look forward to sharing your journies. Sorry if this photo is a bit yuck but I was wondering if anyone else had scaring that looks like this. I’m 3 weeks post surgery and stitches have been out for almost 2 weeks. it looked like this straight after surgery, like an indentation and pucker, with stitches of course. My boob is still quite sore, especially if not supported. My nipple is very sensitive too. I’m seeing a BC nurse on Thursday. I was recommended bio oil but it hurts too much to rub on.241Views0likes13CommentsBreast augmentation after cancer??
Hi ladies, So I'm 34 on Fri and halfway through neo-adjuvant chemo for triple negative BC. My genetic testing results came back this week negative for braca1 and braca2, so it has been decided I'll have a lumpectomy in April followed by rads, then hopefully this will be behind me. My question is, I've always wanted a breast augmentation, especially since having 3 kids and am still considering one after cancer is all behind me, now I have this life is short mentality and feel I should stop putting off all the things I've always wanted. Plus I'm worried about how disfigured I may be after the lumpectomy. Do you think given my history of BC an augmentation for cosmetic reasons is silly?? Do implants effect your ability to be screened properly? Given what I've been through does it seem impractical now? Love your thoughts 🙂611Views1like18CommentsMastectomy and radiation which order?
So I am in cycle 2 of AC chemo, my BRCA gene test was negative and I am now starting to think about what comes next. From the initial diagnosis I have wanted a bilateral mastectomy, and that hasn't changed. What I'm interested in is what order was your mastectomy and radiation done in? We didn't know I was triple negative from my initial biopsy and only found out after my lumpectomy so proceeded straight to 6 months of chemo as a small tumour was found in a sentinel node biopsy, only 1 node taken and tested, so pathologist has said could still be a chance it went into others hence mastectomy and radiation to follow chemo. my surgeon is saying surgery first due to scar tissue and risk of infection. I'm yet to be referred to a radiation specialist to ask their opinion. Would love some feedback or thoughts just so I can find out pros and cons from those who have been through or are going through this. Research I can control, everything else I am learning to accept is outside my control! Christel x61Views0likes10CommentsTriple Negative Breast Cancer/Grade 3
Hi I have Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Grade 3. I have had a Lumpectomy and now have to have Chemo and Radiation. I am okay with the Radiation but not sure on Chemo is anyone out there that has the same ????? Treatment is 3rd Generation Drugs Fluorouracil, Epirubicin, Cyclophosphamide and followed by Docetaxel. I really don't know what to do would love to hear from people who are in the same boat.1View0likes16CommentsHello again
It's taken me almost a year now to finally navigate my way back to this site. My story -short version- diagnosed 24/4/13 with grade 3 IDC stage 3a TNBC right breast, tumour 3.2x5.7cm. Lumpectomy 9/5/13, chemo TAC June til October, joined the exclusive club of BRCA 2 mutants in July '13. Subsequently had skin and nipple sparing bilateral mastectomy, Dec 11th & tissue expanders placed. Am currently in hospital recovering from hysterectomy (prophylactic due to BRCA positive). That's the short version lol! Hopefully I find my way back here again, so I can chat to some off you lovely kind ladies. Laree xx1View0likes5Comments12 months on...
Well, it's been 12 months today that Angelina Jolie told the world about her BRCA gene & bilateral mastectomy, it's my annaversary too. 22 years ago today I lost my 18yo brother to cancer. I was thinking about him as I lay on a table at PRP Westmead having an ultra sound on a lump in my breast. I just KNEW it wasn't going to be good & it wasn't. A biopsy later that day gave me my cancer diagnosis. Lumpectomy told me it was Triple Negative BC & a blood test gave me my BRAC1 diagnosis. Since then I've done 6 months of chemo, oopherectomy, hysterectomy, bilateral mastectomy with lat dorsi reconstruction & topped it all off with a clear pathology results 2 months ago. Don't think I could have done it without the support of BCNA....THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart :) Sam xoxoxox11Views0likes19Comments
