Losing Weight on Tamoxifen
Hi Girls, its been awhile. I was diagnosed in 2013, had chemo and four operations and was left with not much confidence in my body which I'd treated pretty well, I thought, only to be betrayed by my boobs. Three years later, I look in the mirror and don't like what I see! So I'm performing an experiment to see if its true that you can't lose weight on Tamoxifen and I'm writing a blog. Girl vs Tamoxifen You can see the horrible "before" photos on me in the first post. I've given myself until christmas to see if I can make a significant difference. It would be nice if some people would look at the blog from time to time and cheer me on. Or it might be of interest to some people to see if it can actually be done. thanks chibipink8.1KViews0likes25CommentsTamoxifen, Bone aches, brain fog and poor memory. Any one else experiencing these?
Hi all, I tried to put this in the tests and treaments category but for some reason it won't let me. So I'm on week nine of taking Tamoxifen and having some serious concerns. Apart from the ever popular hot flushes, my back and hips are aching constantly. Not too bad through the day when I'm moving around a lot, but quite painful at night in bed or sitting. This one is the more worriesome to me at the moment. Very poor short term memory I have to write notes and set alarms for everything at the moment. I am struggling at work when it gets busy. Poor concentration. I am going from the middle of one task to another instead of finishing the first. If it's super busy i.e paperwork, phone ringing, people asking questions, making appointments all happening at once it's like my brain shuts down into this cloud of fog and I have to walk away for 10 minutes so I can think again. I have trouble remembering words during conversation. Occasional light headed, dizziness. Just generally feeling like a bit of a space cadet at the moment. :) So much so, that I asked my GP to schedule a brain scan! So I decided to stop taking the Tamoxifen for a few days and guess what? Within 48 hours I was clear headed. This isn't constant some days my brain works fine LOL, Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing any thing like this.2.1KViews0likes16CommentsTamoxifen side effects
I’ve been on Tamoxifen now since November and been absolutely fine. I was using a Generic brand Genox all good. The pharmacist gave me a different brand this time and since last week I have felt this crawling under my skin. I haven’t got hives just this irritating urge to scratch here there and everywhere. My mother is on letrazole as she too has breast cancer last year and unfortunately she has chronic idiopathic urticaria and has been talking to me a lot about her discomfort. My symptoms cocincidently occurred as I changed tablets. I feel like I’m losing my mind, could I have given myself this psychosomatically or is it a genuine symptom of the tablets. I’m also sweating a lot and up all night long needing a wee!! Sorry for oversharing Ive gotten through the Mastectomy the chemo and dealt with it all so well now I feel like this is gonna take me down :( has anyone else had this?1.1KViews0likes33CommentsTamoxifen .
I can't see what I just posted. I'll try again. i had a sentinel node biopsy and lumpectomy August 16 th. The cancer removed was very small. It was picked up as suspicious on ultrasound, and after biopsy confirmed as cancer. Mammogram was clear. been quite a traumatic time. I'm to start taking Tamoxifen soon, and just wanted to get some feedback as to how anyone taking it is finding it. thankyou1KViews0likes26CommentsTamoxifen
Well woo hoo is what I say! I had seen on the news last weekend that some drugs had been reduced in their end price to us the patients. Well to my surprise I needed to pick up my next pack of Tamoxifen (Sandoz brand) and instead of the usual $38.50 today's price was $19.50!! Woo hoo!! I hope that translates to other drugs that we all have to purchase1KViews4likes19CommentsAnti-werewolf pep talk?
Hello lovely ladies! Calling for a pep talk! I'm about to start taking my tamoxifen for the first time. It feels like a big step - such a long-term change / commitment (10 yrs+). Aside from the 'no going back' aspect, it's the drop in oestrogen that freaks me out. Being peri-menopausal I was already getting those signs - like growing a goatee :o dry skin, monthly migraines, etc etc. Now that my lady hormones with take another steep dive - what the hell kind of werewolf am I going to turn into?! I'm single and, while I don't need the validation of a man, it will be nice if they don't actually scream and run away. Particularly under a romantic full moon!988Views0likes59CommentsChoosing between tamoxifen, zoladex or no treatment at all...
Hi all, I'm new to this forum but not new to BC. I was diagnosed in May last year, had a lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, radiation and started tamoxifen a year ago. However I suffered terrible side effects and was given the choice of zoladex as an alternative to it. I have not been on tamoxifen since may this year and have enjoyed a much better quality of life. With zoladex I've been told that osteoporosis and early menopause would result, which doesn't sound great either. I'm really torn about what to do. Is there anyone who has decided to leave it up to fate and not take any treatments at all? Is that an insane choice to make? Any insight or personal opinions welcome. Thank you so much!854Views0likes14CommentsFeeling "blue" on tamoxifen
Hello there, has anyone else felt flat, down in the dumps after starting tamoxifen? I have been on the little white pill 20mg for 2 months now, and my anxiety levels are also quite high, but I do have upcoming scans and alot of worries still. Any pearls of wisdom for helping to overcome my flatness? I exercise daily, trying to eat as healthy as I can. In all honesty I do miss a little bit of alcohol to help me relax!! Thanks ladies839Views0likes21CommentsLeg pain whilst on Tamoxifen
I have been on Tamoxifen for six years now, and have gone through menopause. In the past year I have started getting very bad leg pain/cramps (as well as the usual pelvic cramps/pain) - could my experience be a side effect of Tamoxifen? Does anyone else experience this issue?812Views0likes11Comments
