Post-mastectomy underarm boob?
Hi, I just had a mastectomy and axillary clearance on Monday and I have a very large fatty lump under my arm now. It looks like my boob has migrated under there! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar? Does it settle down? When the nurses saw it they said something like that it is just because I am a bit overweight, that I have the same on the other side but it is not noticeable because it is connected to a breast. However I have nothing like that lump on the other side! When I briefly showed the surgeon when she visited me she was like "we might have to do something about that" and I told her what the nurses had said that they thought it was just because I was overweight. So maybe I might need another mastectomy (of the little boob)/ correction. Or maybe this is just something that happens and the swelling will go down. Anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance.192Views0likes8CommentsLymphedema
I had a mastectomy in late april for invasive ductal cancer. I was to have a sentinal node biopsy but due to the feel/appearance of nodes in surgery, ended up with axillary dissection. My surgeon didnt discuss lymphedema, seems he didnt discuss s lot ie my brachio...... nerve was "unavoidably" cut t o access the other lymph nodes and is now a living herll. Thank god i get my nerve block on the 14th. Anyway.my physio has been measuring my arm in 4 places each week and in the last 2 measurements there was a 3cm grtowth. Its also pudgy feeling in my armpit and my chest has some swelling just near the armpit. She put on an elastic type tubular ba ndage and said i would have to leave it on 24/7 and my go is saying about going to the lymphedema clinic. I guess whete im scratching my head is we are only tslking about a 3cm change and it was a week not overnight? Opinions anyone? 3cm seems pretty pathetic to be wearing this. It creases in my elbow fold a nd is pretty irritating ! Ps im also on tamoxifen and have just learned that it also has this as a side effect193Views0likes12CommentsBlood pressure - bi lateral mastectomy
Since surgery I use my leg for blood pressure readings -I am surprised at the number of medical professionals who have never encountered this before. I only had sentinel node removed on right side but had extensive cording. What do others do?52Views0likes4Commentsside effects after mastectomy
Hi everyone. I am 2 weeks post bi-lateral mastectomy. Everything seemed to go well while in hospital. Today went to GP has I heard crackling noise while breathing. GP sending me for an XRay. Has anyone else had any type of chest infections or lung infections after a mastectomy. Thanks ...Christina161Views0likes12Commentsbone pain
Hi all I had dcis and a double mastectomy. I'm not on any meds and didn't have chemo. This was 2 yrs ago. I've been experiencing pain in my spine for a couple of months, almost like I've been sleeping on something sticking in my back and now my right hip bone is sore. Should I get it checked out, I always feel like I'm being paranoid and don't want to bother the doctor.1View0likes6CommentsMastectomy
Had my mastectomy two days ago. Sent home the next day with two drains and what they call a pico suction bandage. The pico doesn't work so it has been left there for the next 7 days. The drains are a nuisance and get tangled up. One of them doesn't have anything in so hoping they will remove it tomorrow. The other one has about 35 mls of fluid in. I know they will only remove it if it has less than 30 mls. my question to others is really about the soreness or numbness. I have soreness more in the armpit than the breast scar itself (sorry forgot to mention I had axillery clearance , level 1, level 2 and level 3) is this usual? And also numbness. Does this last long or something that doesn't always repair itself. although a bit uncomfortable it's definitely not worse than chemo and I know I can cope with it. hope that everyone else is doing ok. Hi ladies, I'm caught in the middle- feel too old for this group yet I'm considered young by other bc groups. I hope to find others sharing my experience. I'm 47, diagnosed last oct with stage 2, had bilateral mastectomy, t&c then was thrown into menopause and all it's lovely side effects with arimidex ( no tamoxifen as previous DVt). I'm still me on the inside but my outside doesn't match.1View0likes10CommentsBreast Cancer, Chemo and Sjogrens
I have Sjogrens and have had a masectomy. I am very concerned about the effect of chemo on sjogrens as this can cause a worsening of symptoms making it intolerable and necessitating permanent use of drug/s, 3 -4 times per day. If you have Sjogrens I would like to learn of your experiences with chemo/Tamoxifen and Radiation. If you are not on medication for Sjogrens, I would particularly like to hear how treatment affected your condition, whether permanently or temporarily.1View0likes0Comments
