Hot flush game changer!!! Oxybutynin 5mg twice a day. Can be Prescribed by Onc
Who is getting Hot Flushes? Have you been given any meds to combat it? Oxybutynin has been used to mitigate hot flushes/flashes for at least 5 years in the USA - has anyone been prescribed it in Australia? It is more known as an incontinence game changer (hubby was on it & it gave him his dignity back.) He rarely had spills after he started wearing the patches (His were Oxytrol Patches you change them every 4 days) - these appear to be tablets. https://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/oxybutynin-helps-ease-hot-flashes So .... if you ARE having lots of hot flushes due to your AI Meds & are inconvenienced by them - maybe ask your Onc about the use of Oxybutynin!Hot Flushes
Would love to know if others have had this problem. I am 75yrs. old, but since about 50 the only time I have never had flushes was when I was on HRT. Now, off HRT. because of Breast Cancer and taking Tamoxifen I am having terrible flushing. The Doctor's have tried every medication, I even went to hospital to have a "Stella Ganglia Block" but nothing has worked. My Doctor's now want to put me back on to hormones, which worries me, as my cancer was aggressive and 3/3. Any advice or opinion, would be appreciated.121Views0likes6CommentsFirst chemo!
Hi everyone! I had my first chemo session today, starting with AC. Though I was warned and given a strong anti-nausea tablet before they started, I was absolutely not prepared for the crippling nausea that has ensued! I was fine throughout the treatment but on the way home it got worse and I've had waves that have had me over the toilet, sweating and gagging (but no actual vomit yet!). I have taken emexlon which seems to work for about 5 minutes and then the relief wears off. If it continues I will of course bring it up with my team but in the meantime, does anybody have any home remedies that have helped keep the nausea at bay? Stay strong team! Morning All this is a very random question but I’m looking at buying a new mattress and have been looking at all the new memory foam style in particular Sleeping Duck. As I have constant hot flushes/night sweats was wondering whether they will retain the heat and just make it worse for sleeping. I currently have the normal old style spring sort and don’t have that issue. Thanks in advance for my tips🙂161Views0likes5CommentsHot flushes on Tamoxifen
Hello. Newby here. Just wondering if you could advise me. I have been on Tamoxifen for 8 months now and have been putting up with those pesky hot flushes at least 20 times in 24 hours. Started taking Evening Primrose Oil 1000mg three times a day. Not one to put too much faith in these types of remedies but the symptoms eased considerably. This lasted a few weeks and now back flushing away all be it possibly to a lesser frequency. Any other things you could suggest??? thanks82Views0likes7CommentsConcerned
Hi ladies I have a general question for you, I have been told that even though I am almost 2 years past diagnosis, that I am still compromised... I am on Arimadex, and also my 2 year check up and has been bought forward as I have found another lump in my unaffected breast.. does anyone know if this is correct Thanks.151Views0likes2CommentsHot flush and nausea
I have done the search thing here with no result. Surely I am not the only one. Every time I get a hot flush I feel nauseous. Not enough to puke, just churningstomach and feel feverish (but I don’t have a high temp). I also feel like this anytime my body feels overheated. I certainly didn’t feel like this pre BC. I am not on hormone tablets. Herceptin finished four months ago. By logical thinking I should be improving. My doctor just says hmmmm. Anybody else or am I just weird? Maybe I shouldn’t have asked that last question!232Views0likes15CommentsQUE Hot Flush Medication Drug Trial
I have just completed the trial. It was a double blind study, meaning that no one knew whether I was on the real drug or the placebo (except the pharmacist). I think I was on the actual drug. I had fewer severe hot flushes, and especially at night. It didn't get rid of them completely but my severe ones were knocked back to moderate, the moderate to mild, and the mild ones stopped. It's been a rude shock going back to life without it. Especially at night. I'm being woken more frequently and the flushes are more intense and last longer. So once again my sleep has deteriorated into utter crap. It was the third human trial of this drug. Which I think is promising as surely they wouldn't keep testing it if they thought it wasn't working would they? The only side effect I had was possibly some constipation. One of the study co-ordinators said that they'll be looking at dosage, so maybe the next study will be on a pill with more of the active ingredient. I found it an interesting experience to have, if sometimes time consuming and irritating. Logging and ranking all your hot flushes for six weeks is tedious! The doctors and study co-ordinators I dealt with were kind and lovely. The doctor was coming in on his day off everytime I saw him. Such commitment. Wouldn't it be funny if I was on the placebo?! The power of the mind eh. However right now if they offered me a bottle of the capsules I'd take it.61Views0likes1CommentTamoxifen sweats! How do you manage your smell?!
Hi ladies, I’m doing well so far on tamoxifen, it has been 2 full months. I am experiencing hot flushes and have become quite a sweaty person. I want to change my clothes and shower twice a day. I feel like my pj’s smell. I’m using a crystal deodorant for my underarms but wondering if there is such a thing as an all over solution that isn’t a spray deodorant? Is there such a thing as a deodorant soap? I’m not finding an answer with Google today!271Views0likes15CommentsTrailwire study about hot flushes...
