Chemo almost done...next is surgery. Hair growth questions.
Hi all, it's been a little while, hope you all doing well and this year brings you all good health and happiness. I am almost done with my chemo (AC and 12 weeks paclitaxel, 4 perjeta and another one (not sure of name), 2 more infusions of paclitaxel. Did anyone find bits of fluffy hair starting to grow already? I don't want to get too excited but am starting to notice some growth. Anxious and excited about my appointment tomorrow with the surgeon to discuss surgery options and how the tumors have responded to the chemo. Any advice would be appreciated. Still awaiting genetic testing results. Now the fun part. We have a family wedding in October this year and some other events and I am very excited for my hair to start growing. Any tips or advice. Scalp treatment or oils etc vitamins. Should I have a shave after chemo so the hair grows evenly and also what kind of length can I expect in 6 months or so. How did you hair grow? Lastly. 7 months post chemo and eyelashes falling out!
I’ve made it to my 1 year anniversary. Survived 3 surgeries, chemo and radiation, now making my way through the delights of tamoxifen! I was so pleased with how my hair has grown back and eyebrows and eyelashes until my eyelashes started falling out recently and breaking off. Has anyone had this happen? Not sure if it’s the fallout from chemo still or the tamoxifen?
Hot weather headwear
Its warming up in Adelaide. My scarfe and Hot flushes are making me warm. I can't wait to get them off when I get home from anywhere. Any suggestions? My sister said can't you take it off if you are not embarrased when you are out and I said im not embarrassed but its a state of undress like taking your undies off when you are wearing a skirt midway when you are out. She gave me a link to something called a coolcap. Ive bought 1 to try out.
Docetaxel side effects
My next 4 chemos are docetaxel. Its side effects are really scaring me. Has anyone else had it and how bad was it? Does it make you loose hair as I have been doing the cold cap and dont want to waste all that time and stress. Also I've heard it can cause neuropathy, and some use ice to stop it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Ican see me sitting there with a cold cap , and hands and feet in ice!😲👣🖐😨
Blood nose and Silica Tabs
Hi, I’m not sure if this query is under the right heading, but my question relates to taking QSilica tabs for my hair and nails. Has anyone else had a blood nose while taking these tabs? I’m also taking Arimidex (Anastrozole), Gabapentin (for the hot flushes) and Caltrate Bone & Muscle tabs. Thanks JasiB
Cold capping
I start chemo next week and I'm considering using a cold cap. I'll be having 4 x TC. Can anyone who has used the cold cap during TC shed any light on how effective it is with this type of chemo? I know it varies from person to person, but from what I've read the chemo regime has a big impact on the effectiveness of the cold cap
How long does it take, if ever, hair follicles to regrow after 10 years of treatment for HER 2.
My friend finished her 10 years of treatment of herceptin for HER2 breast cancer in January 2019 which resulted in hair thinning. There is still no sign after 6 months of hair regrowth. How long does it take or may it not happen, she is very upset about it.
Feeling before hairloss?
I had my first chemo session two weeks ago with the cold cap. The cold cap was fine throughout my session. However, I’m not sure if it will or won’t be successful for me at this time. My head has a sore spot over an area that feels kind of like a bruise as if I’ve bumped it. I think any hair loss also occurs about 2 or 3 weeks after chemo? Is this the type of pain/discomfort that is usually felt before your hair falls out?Has anyone had cold cap chemo & been on thyroxine?
I had a total thyroidectomy a few years ago & have to take thyroxine. My hair fell out a little after the lumpectomy but has settled down again. However, I’m wondering if I’m wasting my time trying to save my hair with the cold cap chemo? Especially as it fell out a little just from the surgery. Has anyone been in this situation as I’d really appreciate hearing your experience?
