Hair Loss Advice
Hi beautiful people. I have just commenced chemo a few weeks ago and I am just starting to lose my hair. I have bought some hats and scarves but I would appreciate some advice on wigs. Looking at the possibility of a real hair wig? Would really appreciate your opinions. I live in the the Wollongong area. Thanks ☺️174Views0likes8CommentsChemo almost done...next is surgery. Hair growth questions.
Hi all, it's been a little while, hope you all doing well and this year brings you all good health and happiness. I am almost done with my chemo (AC and 12 weeks paclitaxel, 4 perjeta and another one (not sure of name), 2 more infusions of paclitaxel. Did anyone find bits of fluffy hair starting to grow already? I don't want to get too excited but am starting to notice some growth. Anxious and excited about my appointment tomorrow with the surgeon to discuss surgery options and how the tumors have responded to the chemo. Any advice would be appreciated. Still awaiting genetic testing results. Now the fun part. We have a family wedding in October this year and some other events and I am very excited for my hair to start growing. Any tips or advice. Scalp treatment or oils etc vitamins. Should I have a shave after chemo so the hair grows evenly and also what kind of length can I expect in 6 months or so. How did you hair grow? Lastly. If anyone is based in Sydney and would want to meet for a chat, support, pray , let me know. Would love to meet some ladies, we can encourage each other. Can direct message me if you like. Thanks and look forward to hearing your progress xxx451Views1like13Comments7 months post chemo and eyelashes falling out!
I’ve made it to my 1 year anniversary. Survived 3 surgeries, chemo and radiation, now making my way through the delights of tamoxifen! I was so pleased with how my hair has grown back and eyebrows and eyelashes until my eyelashes started falling out recently and breaking off. Has anyone had this happen? Not sure if it’s the fallout from chemo still or the tamoxifen?61Views1like5CommentsCalling all teachers
Ok! Here goes and sorry, I tagged it a teachers but any advice welcome! I’m a stage 4 metastatic cancer fighter. I originally had breast cancer in 2016 and was then fine for awhile. My school community knew about that diagnosis as obviously I had leave whilst I had surgery, chemo and radiation and I live locally. Fast forward to late 2018 and I was diagnosed again, this time stage 4 in bones. My hair randomly fell out last year but I managed to get a wig pretty identical to my own hair so no one knew and I could continue to fly under radar. Then covid hit anyway and I taught remotely via zoom in a beanie until nov last year. When I went back to school my hair just looked like I’d cut it short so that’s what I went with. Now randomly my hair is falling out again! I don’t want to get another wig as hair is pretty short anyway and it’s not the look I like if you get what I mean plus due to eczema’s etc I need good quality ones and can’t justify the expense for a crap hairdo if you get my drift!!!!. I’m happy to shave it all off again and wear scarves (once we determine it’s not salvageable which I’m assuming it’s not) but here’s where my question comes in. For those that are teachers, what did you do? Just say to the kids, “I’m having some medicine and it’s made my hair fall out” or just wait and see what they say??? Put a note in newsletter???? I’m not in a classroom but in a specialist role now and teach prep through to grade 4. Any advice welcome, I might just be overthinking it all but once this is out, there’s no going back. Thanks!141Views0likes4Commentsmicroblading - eyebrows
Hi Ladies, i hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday. Just a quick questions, I have been told I need Chemo before surgery as I have TNBC. I just wanted to ask about Microblading eyebrows as I have been told I will lose my hair (which I knew anyway) but also my eyebrows will go. My oncologist appt is next Wednesday to organise my regime and then presume my first session will be shortly after - again not sure what to expect or timelines ect. the reason i knew about microblading is a good friend of mine has a sister that specialses in this and especially works with cancer patients that are going through chemo so she has recommended her to me. Has anyone had this done and if so is there side affects, should i do this before chemo starts and i lose the hair ect. appreciate your adivce. x821Views0likes26CommentsHot weather headwear
Its warming up in Adelaide. My scarfe and Hot flushes are making me warm. I can't wait to get them off when I get home from anywhere. Any suggestions? My sister said can't you take it off if you are not embarrased when you are out and I said im not embarrassed but its a state of undress like taking your undies off when you are wearing a skirt midway when you are out. She gave me a link to something called a coolcap. Ive bought 1 to try out.351Views1like18CommentsHair Diaries
After around week 3 of starting chemo,I started loosing chunks of hair in the shower. It started to feel so dry and unhealthy, not to mention messy! It was upsetting me So I decided to shave it all off. I felt relieved after that. It was one less thing for me to deal with. I started losing my eyelashes and eyebrows From about week 4 of Paclitaxol and continued to fall out until around after week 4 of stopping chemo. Once they all fell out the eyelashes started to grow back within a week and eyebrows about 2 weeks. Both are still growing and getting thicker and longer by the week. I will update with a week 9 picture soon as I have just had surgery so had to skip week 8. 4 weeks after stopping chemo, visible signs of hair just starting to come through 5 weeks 6 weeks 7 weeks271Views0likes10CommentsDocetaxel side effects
My next 4 chemos are docetaxel. Its side effects are really scaring me. Has anyone else had it and how bad was it? Does it make you loose hair as I have been doing the cold cap and dont want to waste all that time and stress. Also I've heard it can cause neuropathy, and some use ice to stop it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Ican see me sitting there with a cold cap , and hands and feet in ice!😲👣🖐😨502Views0likes25CommentsCotton caps, crochet beanies free
I have some caps (one is bamboo cotton and very soft to wear) and crochet beanies to give away. I used them myself in 2018 when I had TC chemo. It’d be good to know they’re useful to someone else rather than sitting at the back of my drawer. Let me know if you’re interested. Take care everyone xx131Views1like4Comments
