Inherited gene mutations - are you at higher risk of breast cancer?
Approximately 5-10% of breast cancers are hereditary- caused by a gene abnormality that is passed from a parent to their child. If one or more of your close family members have been diagnosed with breast cancer, you may be concerned about your inherited risk of developing breast cancer. If you’re at higher risk, have you looked into your options? Hello. I am 62 years old. I have a very strong family history of breast cancer. My mum died at 63. Is there anyone who has either had a double mastectomy as a preventative measure? I’m seriously considering it at the moment. I am done with the anxiety after every mammogram waiting for the call to say there is a diagnosis. Annette.172Views0likes5CommentsNon Cancer Lumps Found
Good evening everyone. Some of you would have read my post on Not Dignosised yet. Today I got the results from my Core Needle Biopsy. All is clear I have not had cancer before. I have a strong family history. Om my mums side my grandmother and 2 Aunts one of the Aunts had breast and Ovarian Cancer. On my dads side my grandmother and 2 Aunts also breast cancer. My dad also has non hodgkin lymphoma not sure if tgat makes a difference. I am heading to a specialist as soon as my GP makes an appointment probably within the next week. I with the support of my husband and my GP am going to ask for Preventative Mastectomy. My results today said fibrocystic non cancer lumps. Am I over thinking this? I am so anxious about getting breast cancer in the future. I am 50 and have alot of plans for the future. Sorry for all my posts but I am at a loss of what to think. Hello I am in Hobart Tasmania. I am 50 years old in the last week I have gad a Mammogram a Ultrasound and Core Needle Biopsy. They have found several cysts which are just that cysts but a few that are different. One of those they took 3 samples out of quite an uncomfortable experience I now have to wait until Tuesday for the results. I am so nervous i do have a fairly strong family history from both mum and dad side...I quess i am here for someone to talk to about what could happen next. Hope its ok to do that.
