We came 4th overall out of 18 teams. I also participated in the flowers on the water ceremony for cancer survivors whic hb was very moving. Hello everyone, Dragons Abreast Bendigo have purchased a new Dragon Boat and wish to donate their existing boat to any community wishing to start up a Dragon Boat Team for Breast Cancer survivors. We have had many years of fun with our boat attending regattas all over Australia. Dragon boating has been proven worldwide by physiotherapists to be the best healthy outdoor exercise for women who have experienced lymphodema after breast surgery. As well as enjoying the outdoors exercise we have lots of fun and have made friends all over Australia. Dragon Abreast
I went boating with the girls yesterday at the Mackay Harbour, what a great thing to have on my doorstep. I could swap chemo stories, laugh about it, laugh at ourselves and have a great time. I managed to keep up with the girls as we paddled around this beautiful harbour. I am so glad these girls started this as its been my saviour in keeping me fit and healthy ready for Thursday for my next and last treatment! When I go to Brisbane for radiotherapy I intend finding a group there to carry on! Janet1View0likes0CommentsAdventure Mk II
Well were to begin - or end...... I have gotten through 4 TC chemo's thanks to my friends and sister. My body didn't handle it well but now over and recovering from it. Waiting for hair to grow back, taste to return, numb tingly fingers and toes to stop and then can turn my back on chemo. Arm movement is improving from mastectomy. Going to start Tai Chi and Dragon Boating soon. So hopefully this will help both physically and mentally. Looking forward to both. Next big adventures include starting Tamoxifen and working out when to return to work - it is tricky as I don't have a supportive boss. Best news though is my close friend has been checked and is all clear. I guess the more my life returns to 'normal' I can try and put this to the back of my mind. And see what new adventures await me. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.1View0likes4Comments
