Re: Prosthesis - I can’t stop crying
Thank you SO much everyone. I am feeling a bit better although not quite loving the whole thing. I guess I still have a lot of emotions running through me. Everyone’s advice is amazing and thank you so much for replying i was fitted by a professional. I still don’t feel like it is the right prosthesis for me but am trying to be more positive. I have had a look at what else is out there, inc the knitted knickers ( so cool). I’m going to keep a lookout for different bras and also my options. Recon is at least 12 months away so I will just need to suck it up. And with so many amazing women in this group I know I will get there. I think I’ve always been the positive one, the funny one, the glass is more than half full one, and the one to protect everyone. It just all bubbled over the other day so thank you again everyone. You have no idea how much help you have given me. Stay safe and take care lisa xxx7Views1like0CommentsProsthesis - I can’t stop crying
hi all so my story is found a lump in feb, lumpectomy in March, sentinel Node op in April then mastectomy And lymph nodes removed on right breast in may i am very lucky in that I Do not need chemo nor radiation and have started on tamoxifen Today I went and got my prosthesis and a couple of bras. I have/had big boobs but this seems ginormous i feel that I shouldn’t be complaining about this but I have cried all day. I hate it. I really do. Is this normal? Will I feel better? Right now I wish they removed both breasts and I would have just dealt with that. I would like to get a recon but that’s minimum 12 months away i am so sorry for complaining but it has all hit me today does it get better? thanks lisa xx418Views0likes19CommentsRe: Drainage am I going crazy?
Hi everyone and thank you so much for your comments. I am seeing surgeon shortly to get it drained but am going to speak to him about getting someone else details that I can contact or the referral letter. Unfortunately my breast care nurse is not a great help - hVent heard from her sincemastectomy. But I do know a nurse who used to be the breast care nurse and she is helping me a bit. Thanks again everyone. I feel better in my head today too which makes a big difference xxxx13Views1like0CommentsDrainage am I going crazy?
Hi all i had a mastectomy on right breast and auxiliary clearance three weeks ago Wednesday. First drain out no issues. Second drain removed earlier than should have been as it was sitting on a nerve. I was still getting 250-300 ml a day. Been to see surgeon once to get it drained. Needed to get it done again last Friday but could only see gp. She hadn’t done it before so tried three times. Third time lucky but didn’t get it all. I am phoning surgeon first thing tmrw to get it done tmrw ( holiday here today). I still have lots of fluid and now it feels like it has hardened in some spots. I’m swollen And in pain. Having trouble coping with all this tonite. Has anyone had this? The actual mastectomy was fine but I have had issue after issue from aux clearance. It’s all overwhelmed me right now.281Views0likes12CommentsRe: Waiting for surgery results
Agree with @primek. I feel like the last couple of months all I do is wait. I am now waiting, after surgery number three which included a mastectomy, to see results from this last op as to whether it was a success and what further treatment I may or may not need. I will find out Tuesday morning. It is tough it really is. But try, as hard as it can be, to be in the present. I am trying to do that. I agree about curling up in bed till Tuesday morning but that won’t help anyone. So I just try and do things to take my mind off it. It is always there but one day one hour one minute at a time honey. Enjoy your hubbies birthday, try not to overthink things. When my journey first started with finding a small lump two months ago I was positive it was nothing. So now I just think whatever way it turns I will get through it. I do a lot of visualisations - I love the beach so when things get too muddled in my head I imagine myself swimming at my favourite beach. It does give me a few mins of peace and then I just try and press on. But know you are not alone honey. We are with you xxx1View4likes0CommentsRe: Arm nerve pain post surgery
I had a single mastectomy and auxiliary clearance ten days ago. Three days ago I was in so much pain with it shooting down my arm and in my shoulder. I have a nurse that comes daily and she was doing her best to try to help. In the end saw gp who sent me straight to my specialist/ surgeon who took out the drain as it was sitting on a nerve. I can’t tell you the immediate relief I got. Not sure if it is the same as yours but my best advice is trust your gut. If it feels not right then do something ( I needed to be told this yesterday morning when I was crying with the pain and I have a high tolerance for pain). It’s your body so please don’t think terrible pain is ok as it’s nit. I hope this helps and let us know how you get on x8Views0likes0CommentsRe: Upcoming mastectomy - any tips?
thank you so thank you so much everyone. Had the surgery last Wednesday, out Thursday. Fingers crossed one drain may come out tomorrow. The second not too long after that. All your advice and tips were so great. Thank you again results next week to find out next step. Fingers crossed xxx26Views1like0CommentsRe: Upcoming mastectomy - any tips?
Thank you @Beryl C. Wow that was fast for you. I do feel that the breast has to go. It is interesting that some friends have said similar re grieving the breast. While I am a bit sad I see this as getting rid of bc so it’s a positive thing. I did go and get a horse shape pillow as I had seen someone else suggest it in another post. That’s why these forums are so great. And yes emotions can be hard but at least I’m feeling them! Thank you again for taking the time to reply xx4Views1like0Comments
