I have been back to the surgeon today for the results of my first mammogram and ultrasound since finishing treatment. Good news, everything looks fine other than a bit of residual swelling and stiffness under my arm. Don’t have to see her again for 12 months, next appointment will be the rad oncologist in December. 😊Re: Paxman Scalp Cooling
I had the same treatment as you are going to have and used the cold cap. As others have said it was uncomfortable for about 10 to 15 minutes and stretches out the treatment time, but for me it worked extremely well. My hair did thin out but not to the extent that I needed to wear anything on my head, in fact unless you knew me you couldn't really see much difference. It also grew back pretty quickly once the treatment was finished. I know everyone can have a different response but for me it was definitely worth doing.Re: Hair shedding after chemo and scalp cooling ends
I also had four chemo treatments (TC) which finished early February and used the Paxman scalp cooling. I had a pretty good result after finishing but did continue to keep shedding hair for about 8 weeks or so afterwards, it was a bit concerning but did stop and my hair is almost back to normal. I agree with other suggestions to get iron levels checked. I have been very tired for weeks after finishing radiation and had a blood test. I had very low iron levels so now on a double dose of iron tablets for three months. I hope things start to improve for you soon.Re: Cold capping
I had TC x 4 and had a good result with the cold cap. About 2 weeks after the first treatment I did lose a fair bit of hair but after that just a bit of hair loss after each treatment. I am almost 4 months post chemo and have had a second hair cut today and nearly back to normal growth. If you are ok with the first 10 or so minutes at the start which can be uncomfortable I would give it a go.Skin cancer after radiation
I finished 5 weeks of radiation just over a month ago and in the last week or so of treatment I had a sore appear on my upper arm on the side being treated. It didn’t go away and turned out to be a basal cell carcinoma which has now been removed, just wondering if anyone else had any skin cancer problems after radiation. Just when I was thinking I would be getting a break from medical appointments 🙁
