Hi, I am new to this site. I am a Perth girl (55) living in Switzerland. Just had a 1.8cm lump removed and 3 nodes. Initial biopsy during surgery showed them to be negative but I have to wait for the full pathology to find out if there are any micro cancer cells around. Am hoping and praying that there are not. Would love to connect with any ladies who are out there. It is hard to talk to anyone about this as no one really understands as I have discovered, and I get tired of the "you will be fine" words when I am scared silly. And the few who I have told I somehow end up also trying to cheer them up! All strange... Helena

Hey Helena I am also an X Perth girl who moved for the tree and sea change but not as far away as you. I have moved to Dongara which is 65klms south of Geraldton on the coast. A pretty lil spot. We are here for you to ask away if you have any questions or just want us to lend you an ear. This whole journey is strange and people can be strange but just accept they don't know what is the right thing to say. Us pink sisters do understand and know exactly where you are coming from and that is why this site is so great. The waiting for results and the unknown is the hardest part of the journey. Try and keep busy when you can to keep your mind off things and just keep those positive thoughts keep rolling through your head. You have taken the biggest step to ridding yourself of this cancer by having your surgery and now you wait to find out the next thing you have to do to ensure you are doing all you can to rid yourself of this crappy BC. Good luck and stay in touch. How is the weather in Switzerland right now. We are in our Spring but we had a real winters day the other day where you just wanted to curl up in front of the fire with a good book and shut the horrible weather out. Brrrrr cold there i'm thinking..... Sorry to hear your news and yep "you'll be fine" the most commong annoying statemnt eh.... when people said that to me i would think how do you know i'll be fine when the doctors cant tell me i will be, BUT unfortunately until you've been on the journey you really have no clues, then you get the ones who ask how you are, and proceed to tell you what a bad day they are having. you have come to the right place here, we have so many women (and men) who are going through or have been through the journey, At first its all a blur, but once you get on thr wheel of treatment, it does settle down for a while, the main thing is to take care of yourself, and make time for you, unfortunately this is a time when you will find your real friends, so come on here any time and rant, rave or smile and chat, no question is stupid, so although we cant give you medical advice we can give you moral support. Hi helena, well you have had a pretty rough time lately. I too was recently diagnosed and am 55 also, still waiting on my results from pathology so at this point I am unsure of the road ahead. I was given loads of information when 1st diagnosed and it took me a while to read through it all, and then check out websites etc. This sites seems to be very supportive with loads of information. I am glad you have found us.I hear you when you say everyone seems to get pleasure from telling you all the horror stories from their long last aunt or granma and it is like hello do I really need to hear all this crap but they honestyly believe they are helping. Hello helping who???? themselves, yes maybe but not you. I agree that side of this journey sucks but I really think the majority of people mean well but just don't really know what the hell to say.Where are you living? Do you have the BCNA My Journey Kit? Do you have a support Group you can relate to? Do you have friends and family to support you through this? We are here for you to chat to or vent or to voice your frustrations or fears or anything else you need us for.Just give a yell and we will be here for you.Lots of love always, Mich xoxoxoo

I have been given the kit. I have got two good friends to talk too. I seem to spend my time reassuring family, that they will be ok. I am having a partial mastectomy on the 11th. Then the treatment begins.

I have finished radiation treatment. I am a bit dumb here but how do you know if they have got all the cancer?

Lots of emotions that I have gone through. This week I have been bursting in tears over silly things, which isn't like me. People at work gave me a farewell party. Which was nice, but lots of questions. I don't know the answers until after surgery.

Thanks Mitch, I am booked in for surgery on 11th July. I am not sure what the plan is until the surgery. I have a lot of pamphlets for breast cancer. So have been reading lots. I am not ready for a group yet, I seem bit over whelmed with things and people.

I know what you mean about supporting friends and family and reassuring them you will be okay but really you don't know if you will be okay yourself.I was thinking more of a group of BC ladies in your area that get together and support each other. We can see if we can find such a group for you if you like. What area do you live in. This sort of support group is great because these people know exactly where you are coming from. But chatting away here I find helps so much as well as you find there are so many other women going through what you are going through or been through it so will have some advice.I had a lumpectomy and total axillary nearly 1 1/2 years ago followed by chemo and radiotherapy. I am now getting my life back and getting on with things the best way you can.What treatment have they suggested or will they wait until after your surgery and put a plan together for you. I know everyone finds that once there is a plan they can get things sorted and just get on with it which can be better.It is a very scary ride you are on Melanie I know but it is doable luvy and with the support and love around you I am sure you will get through.Please come back and chat some more.Lots of love,Mich xoxoxo
