Treatment continues
Hi everyone,
I'm currently recovering from mastectomy (26/5/15) after 2 previous surgeries to excise my breast lump. It's been a very big month of May!
I'm now awaiting medical oncology and radiation oncology appointments to see what happens next. I know I'll need chemo and it's still undecided whether radiotherapy is on the cards.
I've been a regular reader of the blog posts and have read that some of you have returned to work during treatment. I'm a primary teacher, and after the initial diagnosis/surgery, I effectively have not gone back. I'm on sick leave from my position and don't feel entirely comfortable fronting my class of students, as lovely as they are. I'm aware my defenses will be down when it comes to fighting colds and viruses during chemo, and to be honest, I still don't know what I'm about to face. I think I just want advice from someone who may have been in this position before. I know my class is in capable hands. No teacher is indispensable. My work colleagues/friends have been excellent support and telling me to stay away. I think I'm just trying to adjust to this new body/life.
Resting up and the journey continues,
Karen xx
